A lot of Feeley haters ask why people make excuses for him (such as blaming his performance on the O-Line) instead of holding him totally accountable the way we did Fiedler. This is a reasonable question, but the answer is fairly simple: Last year was Feeley’s first year as a starting QB. We gave Jay the benefit of the doubt his first year… the second year… maybe even the third. But after bumbling around for that long we lost faith. The honeymoon phase still hasn’t ended with Feeley, and it wont for another year or two. Until then he will get the benefit of the doubt, which is something every new QB deserves.

not an aj-hater, but why does he (or anyone else) get a year as a qb, as "benefit of the doubt"? couldn't you say that one of the problems with fiedler is that he received, as you say, almost three years? so if it was a mistake with fiedler, why repeat the mistake with feeley, or anyone else for that matter? feeley hasn't started enough, last year was his first year, the o-line was bad, we have to see what he can do, we traded a first day draft choice for him, he's a bad practice player, blah blah blah. it should come down to training camp - if a.j. proves he should be the qb, then he is - frerotte's the backup, we're happy for a year or two. if frerotte proves he's the qb, then he's the qb, aj can grab some pine, and we work on getting a young qb next year, either through the draft or via trade. one of the biggest mistakes made last year was not naming a clear starter early enough. don't think it will happen this year, and you can rely on the fact that whoever is named the starter has earned the spot. of course, all of this is just an opinion.

i agree and i back aj for now. last year i dont care who you put in as qb i dont think it would have made the offense any better. with no o-line and no running game what do people expect from guy who is starting for the 1st time. give him time and if you watched games toward the end of the year he actually looked as if he improved. i back him and think he will grow in the system.

You have no choice. You must support AJ, he's all you have at the moment.

..Well that may be true but ironically your in the same boat!! It is very possible Losman will crap out and then your season will be shot!! On the flipside if he performs well you likely will have a real good year....our situation is very similar.

he has to beat out frerotte, or he shouldn't be there. we didn't draft in the first round, we traded for him when he was third-string in philly. if he didn't have some talent, he wouldn't be in the nfl. it's whether or not he can play. it's like in, say, buffalo, where losman must have showed something to indicate to the coaches that it was ok to cut bledsoe. whether it was how he played in college, or in camp, or in any nfl games. make him earn the spot.

Not quite. The ceiling is much higher for Losman. We already know AJ's boundaries.

i don't agree, i think holcomb has shown that he can play in the nfl. not to say he can carry a team, but he's done well when he's been called upon. much like frerotte when he came in for culpepper.

Holcomb is a very good backup but my point is Buffallo is gonna stick with Losman unless it gets REAL bad.

the aj fans would say we don't know aj's boundaries, and they'd have a point. try to look at losman objectively - why is his ceiling much higher? maybe it is, maybe it isn't, it's too early to tell. we'll see this year - he may turn out to be like another bill quarterback that looked great in practice or the preseason, then turned up the suck in during games...we all remember rob johnson, another qb given a job for reasons other than how he played on game days.

We dont know yet if Losman ceiling is much higher then Feeley, only because you got him in the first means really nothing, we need to wait and see.

Simple because he's the best QB we have on the roster IMO.Besides that I do believe AJ will get the job done. It seems under Scott's offense which involves throwing the ball more may play to AJ's strenghts.
