Seeing some other posts from fans all in an uproar and rambling on about how we should never traded Wes Welker because of how well he has done in New England 2 me is rediculous. There is no denying he is having a hell of a year thats not the point of this post. The point is he would not be even as close to as good as he looks if he was not on the Patriots.

When you have Donte Stallworth running a 4.2 someting 40 on 1 side and All-Pro 6'4 210pound 4.3 something 40 on the other side, all odds are no1 is really concerned about the 5'9 undrafted punt returner out of Texas Tech turned slot receiver. And even as the year went on and people realized that this guy can make these littel dink and dunk 5 to 10 yard patters and screen catches...that doesnt mean u can take the double coverage off randy moss or take ur fastest corner off stallworth.

Also seeing he is the slto receiver and ur best corners are covering moss and the other outside receiver wether it b stallworth or gaffney so the other team has probably there 3rd string corner covering him and alot of other time a linebacker. Seeing how quick(not fast) he is its pretty easy to get open wen ur running little curls and quick slants and little screens with pro bowl lineman out in front blocking for u. And most importantly of all lets not forget who is throwing him the ball...Tom Brady the MVP of a superbowl and the NFL or as every sports announcer and ESPN analyst referes to him as basically God in shoulder pads is throing him the ball on the mark everytime.

Lets also not forget that he is playing for the 17-0 all-world patriots who get more TV attention and media than the president so fans just get mad that announcers are talking abowt welker as a patriot and not a dolphin. You put him on any other team maybe besides the Colts and we wouldnt even b having this discussion he would just b another slot reciever that is doing his job. In the end we got a talented top 10 rookie of the 2007 draft class Center in Satele that will b here and a star most likely longer than welker will b in new england

I am not trying to bash Welker he is a good SLOT receiver and thats all he will ever be he could not b a #1 wideout and i think we all know that, so everyone just needs to realize it was a good trade for both teams b/c Welker would not have served any purpose on this 1-15 team, Satele i beleive is more of a piece of this trying to b rebuilt team than welker could be he is a piece of a winning puzzle not a broken one Satele will anchor the line for the future

Brother just a helpful hint for the future. Paragraphs are your friend. If you make your posts easier to read, you will get more replies.

Thats like saying 2+2=5 it just does not make sence

Welker got away from the Phins because they wouldn't pay him...I don't understand why people have to say that he is just a slot receiver or that "trading him was good." He was a solid kick and punt returner for us and a clutch receiver, especially on 3rd down.

Welker is the type of player that you love to have on your team. He's the hard worker that just some how gets his job done. He makes big plays when you need it and he has a great knack of getting the first down on 3rd when you really need it. All of that being said he is a slot reciever. He is great on a team that has other threats, but he would not have even been half the reciever he was this year on this team. We got very good value for him, it was a good trade for both teams. We got a starting center for the future, they got a reciever that really makes that team very very dangerous.

Hey look, if we still after an entire NFL season have to make an argument to validate a move made by the front office than it's obvious not everyone is going to be happy with it. Personally i think we should never have let him become an RFA. We could have signed him for a deal for alot less than what he got from the Pats. Samson Satele may indeed prove to be a great center but right now it looks like they got the better end of the deal. We tend to get housed in these types of trades anyway...

I'd rather have satele and abe wright than welker right now

How does it make sense to get rid of a great widereciver?

because he's not a WIDE receiver what dont u get wen u have randy on one side and donte on the other ur the slot reciver that is his role on the team.....and he is not GREAT he is a good short yardage SLOT reeciver with GREAT talent around him that makes him look better than GOOD

In hindsight, Welker led the NFL in receptions this year. More catches that TO. More catches than Randy Moss. More catches than everyone. He was worth more than a low #2 pick. I'm happy we got Ginn and Satele... but there were better moves in hindsight.

We could have drafted DT Amobi Okoye, and I can assure you he would have made a bigger impact this year than Ted Ginn did. We could have signed the Giants Center Shaun O'Hare. We could have signed Kevin Curtis if we wanted another receiver.

So if the question is would you rather have Ginn and Satele or:
Akoye and Welker and a free agent Center like O'Hare and a free agent Receiver like Kevin Curtis... in hindsight Mueller screwed up.

Additionally, we probably wouldn't have drafted Soliai if we already drafted a DT.

people forget that new england ****ed miami on his contract to and that is why they threw in the 6th round pick when kraft found out wayne was pissed. cuz they did one of those if he plays more the 6 games in any given year in the state of florida the whole contract was guaranteed type of screw job and there was no way miami could take that chance on a guy who had been average at best for them

Nice post BUT.....
Shawn O'hara was not going anywhere. He is from NJ and was staying with the Giants.

Wes Welker is not a great wide receiver. I am sick and tired of seen people call him a great receiver all this guy is getting is Moss/Stallworth's trash!
Do you ever see Moss run slants. Moss only runs the flat route and because he is so fast they have to account for him everytime and you have another speedster on the outside that could burn you deep.

Put welker on a team as a #1 receiver and he clearly will not beat the Champ Balies of the NFL.
