Maybe I look at this strange, but I cannot see why we would have Pat White be our starting qb. If he was our qb, that wouldn't be a "wildcat" set up, more of a Mike Vick set up. He would just be a run threat as a qb, that is all to common in the nfl. Besides, he doesn't seem to have the intangables of a Bill style QB (size, arm strength). I think he will be a slot rec, mostly lining up in Ricky's spot in the wildcat. That would add a pass threat/run/rec threat in the same position. Without Chad (either one) on the field, you would still only have one player on the field that would be a pass threat. How would that be different from last year?

PS. If I really wanted to make the wildcat effective, I would make Henne work some WR mini camps.:d-day:

He's our wildcat not our quarterback. Get it right.

Management saw the opportunity to grab a player that is versatile and they envision him in multiple roles. QB/WR/KR in one single draft pick. He will wind up giving opponents fits because they will always have to account for him. We saw Pennington line up at WR receiver several times and we pretty much knew it would be a running play because chances are they weren't passing to Pennington. Now add White to the mix, oh the possibilities

I think he's going to come in alot on 3rd downs as our QB, not just for the wildcat. We were one of the worst teams at picking up 1st downs and i think he'll help us alot there.

Why can't people see the versatility of this guy? If we drafted a DL/OLB hybrid, people would be going crazy. We drafted a WR/KR/RB/QB hybid. Think of him being a guy like Crash Jensen was...just tell him were to line up and the guy will.

Exactly, so many have ignored his ability to play RB. Why would the NCAA's all-time leading rusher from the QB position be incapable of lining up as a RB and gaining some yards.

Of course he can. And he could probably play safety or CB as well.

You people who say that all he is, is a running QB have obviously not seen him throw the football. He has a pretty good arm and is a good all-around QB ..NOT just a runner!!!!

Exactly! The Jose Oquendo of football, perhaps?

If he outplays Henne I am all for him being our QB...There is no reason he cant be...EVERY single scout/evaluator/GM etc... said he had the best workout among all the QBs (Sanches, Freeman, Stafford).

If he were 3 inches taller he would have been a 1st rounder. I dont think he will be our starting QB though...I think he will be the wildcat specialist while working at reciever.

imo he'll work in the wildcat for a year or two, but he'll get a shot to compete for the qb job once chad is gone.

I thought he was shorter, ESPN has im listed at 6'1''....isn't drew brees 6'1''?? watching him throw he throws just like brees, with a high release point to keep the balls from being batted down. Only thing I do know, he throw a really nice deep ball.
