Ok well I know most people here are pretty upset about the marshall trade and will come in here saying the receivers suck now but im gonna try to find something positive about our current receivers.
Davone bess - he's quick and shifty, has some good hands, runs routes really well, he lacks deep threat and breakaway speed but he's a pretty good slot receiver and getting decent yac. He's also a hard worker, he's always out there at practice before everyone else catching balls out of the machine.
Brian hartline - he also has good hands, he's made a few circus catches to bail qbs out, I feel like he does a pretty good job at getting separation and he's deceptively fast. He's not a burner but he can get behind a defense. I feel like alot of people here hate on this guy for no reason and don't realize he is a pretty good receiver. Of course he's not a number one receiver in the mold of a calvin johnson or brandon marshall but he does not suck like some posters here seem to think.
Clyde gates - he's fast....well that's pretty much all I know. I know he's only played football a few years and he's raw but he's really fast. I guess well just have to wait and see what we've got with this guy. He really didn't see many snaps he was mostly just on special teams. Im sure we will see more of him this season.
Marlon moore - I saw some potential from his limited play and preseason but im not sure I see him making the roster, especially if we draft someone._
Roberto wallace - same thing as moore, I saw some potential in limited play. He's got good size. If I had to choose between moore or wallace im not sure which one I would keep. I wish we could've seen a little more of these guys, sparano could've worked them in a little more to see what we have.
I personally think were gonna draft a receiver or two in this draft. Idk who they will target if they do but hopefully they do their homework cuz we never find elite receivers or diamond in the rough receivers in the draft.
I know the loss of marshall was shocking and painful for some but I don't think were as bad as some are making out to be. Supposedly philbins offense spreads the ball all over the place and I think bess and hartline fit into that kind of an offense. The verdict is out on the other three cuz we haven't seen enough of them to determine what they're capable of, but I think we need to draft at least one this year.
