I wanted to see who you think makes the team. I know Chambers, Booker, Boston, but after that is where it's up for grabs. I like the Thompson came on last year. Also I would like to see Gilmore step it up. Do you think any of the young receivers will grab the 4th or 5th slot?

I was thinking about this very topic last night, good thread.

Usually from past teams, we keep 5 WRs. However, I wouldn't be suprised to see Saban keep 6 this year just because of the quality players we have for depth. This is what I see:

WR1: Chris Chambers
WR2: Marty Booker
WR3: David Boston
WR4: Derrius Thompson
WR5: Wes Welker
WR6: Bryan Gilmore(If we keep 6 he stays, otherwise he gets cut)

They seem to be trying to include Wes in the passing game more then just having him as a Kick/Punt Returner. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

I agree with Nub -- I think we'll see Wes more in the passing game.

1 - Chambers
2 - Booker
3 - Boston
4 - Gilmore
5 - Welker
6 - Mann/J. Davis (If we keep a 6th receiver..if not, Practice team).

I have a gut feeling that DT will be cut sometime before the season starts.

I pretty much agree with that, but the one guy I think has a good shot of not only making the team, but getting alot of PT is Josh Davis. Sure he's small and he's not that quick, but he's been catching everything thrown his way, and is a smart player. I highly doubt Saban will ignore those qualities (like Wanny did last year with our young DE's).

Chambers, Booker, Boston, Welker, Thompson.....and possibly Kendall Newsome since he's one of the few guys that Saban actually singled out when talking about players that look good in TC. We'll see, that could also be a kiss of death for him also. :) Then there's also Gillmore who's talented

mann or davis or both for the practice squad.

guys I'm rooting for are Newsome and Welker from a personal standpoint oh, and Gillmore since we went to the same college (MSU not a lot make it from there). From a talent standpoint I'm rooting for Boston to kick it into gear, he's soo talented.

While not likely at all, I still say it's possible that Boston and Thompson are elsewhere next year.

You know, a lot depends on how many of each roster spot the team chooses to keep. As I've been saying, I've keep looking a Minny's roster from last year for my references but Saban may have other ideas. I know Saban will take what Linehan has to say into serious account though since Linehan's the guy who's going to be calling all the plays. I mean, we could realistically keep only 4 (with 2 on the dev. squad) if they decide they want an extra TE or RB or both...... or keep up to 6. But it's a big mystery.

I can already tell you Mann will not make the team based on his performance so far.

Newson has a shot at making it, but I'd give the edge to Josh Davis if the 2 ended up battling for a roster spot. (Hell when Gus was on the field half the time he threw to Davis before he would even look at our big 3).

I overlooked Welker on the Wide receivers my bad. Do we keep 6 receivers just in case Boston can't stay healthy?

I am hoping we have room to keep six myself. That includes the practice squad of course. After what happened last year... I would feel much better about our depth at the possition if we keep six.

I would too. I think we need to keep one or two of the young receivers on the practice squad to grrom for the future, and in case of injury as well.

I think its posible for us to keep .

chambers, booker, davis, welker , gillmore i dont think boston is goint to make it because i dont think he is healthy but i could be wrong.

Would you keep Davis over Thompson? Does Farmer have any outside chance?
