I agree. We could sign Cam Newton, the QB most personally responsible for the most TDs in the league with 12, pretty cheaply.

So of the top 25 WRs in the league for this season 9 are 1st round picks. 5 are 2nd round picks. 5 are 3rd round picks. 3 are 5th round picks. 3 are undrafted free agents.

3 of these WRs were selected in the top 7 of their respective draft...

Only 1 of these 25 WRs have won a Super Bowl and that was Tyreek Hill just last season.

I charted these results bc obviously we are looking at the potential of drafting a WR at #3. Some have already decided to turn the card in for DeVonta Smith but after seeing these results are we sure we want to draft a WR at #3 if our goal is to win a Super Bowl? Granted its just this years worth of data but I find it quite surprising that only 1 of the top 25 WRs in football by yards have won a Super Bowl.

Will this data steer anyone away from wanting a WR at #3 so badly? What say you?

I don’t think WRs are the most important, but ours are really bad. We must improve there to have any chance at winning playoff games.

But, TBF, he said "new." Sadly, he left out who that new elite QB would be.

If you can get a trade for even a couple of spots back and miss on the guy you wanted, then that's the gamble you take. But like someone said earlier, if we don't take him at 3, the Falcons will be glad to take him at 4

So we take Sewel at 3, Falcons take Smith at 4, then they trade Julio to us? That could work!

Could you imagine the Falcons putting Julio, Calvin and Davanta all on the field together?! Lord have mercy!

Quoting the article " As a matter of fact, of the 18 NFL pass catchers this season to surpass 1,000 yards on the year, just seven of them were 1st-round selections." So nearly half the 1K receivers were 1st round picks. To me this suggests that the 1st rounders are very likely to return excellent value for the pick. We're comparing a group of just 32 players each year against the other 200+ players in later rounds plus those unicorns that are the UDFAs. And yet 7 of 18 1K receivers came from the much smaller group. That seems like an argument in favor of going after a WR in the first round.

That said, I find myself in the "trade down" camp. We could still add a great difference maker somewhere in the 6-10 range while possibly gaining 3 or 4 additional picks between this year and next. I do hope that 2 of our top 4 picks are WRs.
