The news is slow today and has been for a while, so I was looking up stupid facts and was wondering what are the strangest/dumbest injuries in football?
Some of the ones that I have found have included current and former Dolphin players, here they are.

1. Gus Ferotte- While celebrating after scoring a touchdown Gus headbutted a wall in the end zone. Not only did Gus suffer a concussion he also lost his starting job.

2.David Bowens- David tore ligaments in his knee after jumping off a ladder he was using to change a light bulb.

3.Olindo Mare- Mare pulled his hamstring while stretching before going to bed.

4.Turk Edwards- Edwards, an olineman for the Redskins, suffered a career ending knee injury while walking back to the sidelines after the coin flip. The studs on his shoes became caught in the grass and he badly injured his knee.

5.Clive Rush- Even the head coaches are getting in on the action. While speaking at his news conference welcoming him as the new head coach for the Boston Patriots (explains alot :D ) Rush electrocuted himself by touching a live wire on his microphone. Rush collasped after owner Dan Marr unplugged the cord, saving his new head coach from further injury.:sidelol:

Well, there is my Top 5, I am looking forward to hearing yours.

sammy sosa sneezed once and blew out his back

Haha, I liked Gus he did ok, but man knowing he did that made me seriously question his intelligence. I thought he also broke a few vertebrae as well when he did that?

What about one of the gramatica bros. who jumped up in the air like he was part of the '80 Olympic hockey team after making a regular FG and tore his knee up! That was great -- easily rivals Gus's head-banging incident.. well, not really, but close

I did that once as we were driving into the parking lot at JRS before a game.Boy did that suck.

What was that nagging injury John Offerdahl had that pretty much did him in? Wasnt it something with his abdomen?

how bout jim mcmahon poking his eye out with a fork while trying to unknot a shoelace?

also I remember a couple years ago, a coach for the Jags or some other team used an axe as a prep talk prop, and one of the players cut himself badly on it

well if u wanna hear what i did to myslef on thursday i slipped in the bathroom at work and knocked 3 of my teeth out split my lip and busted my head and chin but im lucky im getting payed for while im off from work and all my hospital bills so idk if that could be considered a weird injury

Yeah, it was the kicker. They had a locker room thing, "keep chopping wood". In the training facility they had a huge log and an ax to symbolize what they were trying to acomplish. The kicker was going at it, cut clean through the log and deep into his leg. The injury report actualy read, "ax wound"

I might have to revise my TOP 5 and place that near the top.

I remember that and had to look it up again. Was punter Chris Hanson and he apparentley axed himself. Funny thing is, article stated he and the kicker Holmes severley burned themselves the previous year making fondue.
