With the chargers losing on monday night, the AFC wildcard spots are WIDE OPEN at this point in the season...

In our division however the pats are 4-2 and they just beat a team like 60-0..........

We have the saints coming into town undefeated, a very tough game.

the pats this week are playing the 0-6 bucs...... theres a very good chance they could be 5-2 and us 2-4 by the end of this week.

On the bright side I like Miami's chances (would bet they will win) against any other team on the rest of our schedule this year besides the saints and possibly steelers, I think we will at least split 1-1 with NE, so that would put us at 11-5..

Even if we beat the pats in both of our division games, it's VERY unlikely we will catch up to them in the division race.. wildcard is looking like our best playoff chance at this point

I think you are wrong on this one...we can definitely win our division. The pats schedule get MUCH more difficult down the stretch. Our schedule after the next 3 games gets considerably easier with some tough games, but some cupcakes. You have to remember that the pats beat the titans and now will play the bucs. We still have to play both, and we already played the colts, they have not. Plus we get the pats twice. I think we need to win the division

It's worth mentioning even this early in the year because honestly I've never seen the wildcard spot so wide open..

Right now there is only ONE non division-leading team that is even over .500 ....

This puts Miami even with a 2-3 record only 1 game out of the wildcard right now rofl... and we're through the hardest part of our schedule...

the Pats have yet to play the Saints as well. they are going through a soft stretch in their schedule. still, they are looking really good right now.

I just want to get in, and don't care if it is as the AFC East champ or the WC. The Pats killed the Titans but they ran it up in the snow on a team that quit on them....I don't see other teams lying down like dogs on them.

If we beat them, Jets twice, and Bills twice, then the division will be ours cus I think everyone else has not seen the WC much. Huge advantage IMO but this would be a tall feat to say the least.

Do I think it could happen?

you betcha.

yeah, the snow game was a snow job. No way they get that open vs. us. We will play them tight and no RB will run on us like that. No way!

road game vs. NO and INDY.

Of course, it would be better to win the division.

But in terms of having a shot at the WC, the AFC North is going to make things a bit complicated for us. There are three teams there that will probably be fighting it out til the end for the division and all end up in the 9-7, 10-6 range.

The Chargers may seem out of it, but they're not, and will probably make a push at the end to end up also around 9-7 or 10-6. Remember also that they own the head-to-head against us.

The AFC South will probably not have a WC contender. The Texans would be the best bet (they are 3-3 right now), but they've still got games against INDY (twice), NE, and us. They also play SF this weekend. It's hard to see them doing much better than 9-7.

In our own division, Jets are probably reeling - I doubt they provide much competition for a WC, but they can still hurt us (or the Pats) bigtime when we play them. Jenkins was basically a season-ending loss for them.

Our playoff chances are looking quite bright for a 2-3 team, but it's early. Certainly, a win against the Saints would make a playoff appearance much more likely, and a loss would make it much more of a longshot.

it's going to be very tough this year. our schedule isn't the same as last year

I agree I think it's a possibility the AFC North even gets both wild card spots... For a 2-3 team though we're only currently 1 game out of the wildcard, that's insane.. I think once we're past the saints, we only have 3 more tough games against the pats and the steelers, and then the rest is very very winnable...

lets see chad henne string together a couple of good games before we book our playoff trip guys.

What is with people on this board?? When did I "book our playoff trip" ?!??!

All I did was simply point out how incredibly WIDE OPEN the AFC wild card spots are at this moment, more open than I've seen them in a long time.

and according to you that's "booking our playoff ticket" ?!?!?

i did not quote you in my reply, as i would have if it was meant solely for you, but it was not... that said, starting 0-3 with basically a rookie qb getting extensive playing time, throw in a very difficult schedule and that is not exactly a recipe for an 11-5 finish. just trying to be realistic that is all.

The thing is if we are going to be a playoff team we have to to be able to hang with the big boys. Do we really want to lose to NO, Pitt and NE to slip in at 10-6. If those games are close, maybe but if we get killed then no. We should have beaten INDY, we need to get that done vs NO.
