I know the big thing about the Wildcat is that it takes away from Hennes ability to get in a groove.

When I look at him off the field he talking to David Lee and getting info for his next play.

So isnt it kind of like him taking a personal timeout to make sure he knows what he is going to see on his next play.

If we are just running the ball does it make that big of a difference if he is the one handing the ball off or not?

I know people think well throwing him in there on 3rd and 6 is unfair.
But if he was in there and we run the ball on first and second anyway is it really that big of a deal?

the thing i was looking at is his contract, he is only signed till next season, do they see how it goes this year and resign him before next season or let him play out his contract and slap the tag on him?

I dont think thats correct. His rookie deal was not for three years.

The moron MNF crew kept saying it is difficult for him to sit 4 plays then go in and throw accurately. I would like to know what's the difference between punting and waiting 4 plays while the defense gets us the ball back and going out and throwing then?

simply not true. Henne signed a 4-year deal as a rookie and he's in his second year now. Pennington will be a FA after the season, not Henne.

on topic: the WildCat helps Henne a lot more than it hurts him. yeah, he might not be in perfect rhythm because of it, but the defense commits to stopping the run instead of dropping back into coverage.

Well, Chad Henne was 20-26, 241 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, for a QB rating of 130.4. I would say that's a pretty good "groove".

In Marino's final 13 seasons, he had one game in which his quarterback rating was more than the 130.4 rating Chad Henne had in his second start.

If anything, the 2009 Wildcat helps the passing game. The 2009 Wildcat removes all QBs & WRs, and replaces them with big maulers. So while Henne & Ginn are on the sidelines (resting, talking with assistant coaches, looking at photos of previous plays), DBs like Revis are geting squashed by 270 lb Joey Haynos, then run over by 230 lb Ronnie & Ricky. After the wildcat mauling, Henne & Ginn trot back on the field.

Good point I hadn't thought of that. That is true it would give him a chance to get some input about what is going on during that drive. I see where it would really help a young QB more than someone like Penny.

On the other hand he did say it was kinda hard on him to come in and out, but that is just him wanting to be on the field more IMO.

Good point, just another reason the wildcat works for us.

If Henne continues to play like he did last night, then the Dolphins are going to have to redo his contract.

McNabb is the guy who said he had a problem getting his rythmn when they used Vick in the preseason, but Donavan throws the ball on just about every down.

The Eagles probably pass it more than any other team, we are a running team. I think it helps Henne because it takes pressure off of him.

Having a great running game helps Henne, and our running game involves a lot of wildcat. So...yes I think the wildcat helps him more than it hinders him.

After the night he had, it's hard to argue that it hurt him but I thought there were stretches in the game were I was starting to feel uneasy that Henne was out for so long. Had we lost, I have no doubt it would quickly become an issue.

I think the thing the really helped Henne was the lines pass blocking. He had time to survey the field and the Jets were never able to rattle him.
