So I've been thinking about this since we drafted Pat White. Ronnie Brown ran the wildcat perfect and he was the reason it was so successful why are we switching to Pat White? White does not have the running back in him like Ronnie. Yes White can throw better obviously but I think with Pat White in there it takes the element of surprise for some reason even though he can throw better.

I dont know I just dont think we should change anything and let Ronnie continue to run it. Thoughts?

I think Ronnie will still run about 70% of the wildcat we use.
However no one really knows and thats to our advantage.
I just think Pennigton gets replaced by white when we go to the wildcat and we might motion him or something.??

Yeah I could see that to keep CP away from getting blocked or hit hard.

Penny had some huge pass plays out of the wildcat last year. White will likely replace him on some wildcat play, but I bet Chad is still in there for the majority.

Because defenses aren't exactly scared of R.Browns threat of throwing the ball.

Kinda my point though if they are not scared of it then they wont practice for it as much and then losing the surprise factor. If White is in there they know he can throw it and throw it well so the other teams will spend more time on it.

Pat White is the reason that we will not keep 6 WR's IMO.

However expect Ronnie to still take the direct snap in most situations, with Ricky, Cobby, Ginn and White taking the occassional snap. Chad will still be in on some cat plays also. There will be wildcat plays where Pennington and White are both in . . . which is why we could see Henne relagated to the third QB on game days, which Pat White would probably come in and hand the ball off or run some wildcat and if Pennington is not able to continue, we would then bring in Henne.

Ronnie can throw the ball, and people say defenses aren't scared of Ronnie throwing it, but its the element of suprise that makes it successful.

We gained a lot of yards rushing out of it though..
The formation is made to give you a advantage running the ball.
Ronnie gives us the best shot to do that

The big threat in the Wildcat is the pass. At the end of the season defenses had no fear of the pass threat and committing to stopping the run. .If Pat White runs it they have to sit back and respect both the run and the pass. It goes beyond just Brown and White, this year we need every skill player to be a threat! For example in the playoff game because we were so short on receivers we had Cobbs and Fasano spread out. Now with a healthy line up we can rotate in players and look for mismatches. Ginn, Bess, Turner, Cam, etce, and Wilford as a HBack could be interesting.

i'd like to see Ginn getting involved somehow. the guy was a highschool QB and he's a threat to take an end-around the distance anytime.

Tony already said it's only the "wildcat" when Ronnie Brown get's the ball from the center.

If Pat get's the ball from the center it's just the spread.~ Tony's words not mine.

I think the best way to kept the element of surprise is just to have Ronnie and Pat standing next to each other in the backfield so the other team still doesn't know what's about to happen, that would seem to be the easy fix in keeping element of surprise, on our side.

To be a wildcat play,

Ronnie will take the snap, Ricky will be running from his left like he did last year, and Pat will be running from his right. Ronnie will either pound it inside, give it to Ricky to run it outside, or give it to Pat to either throw it or run with it.

If White takes the snap, it would be a shotgun formation. And I doubt we do that

white will be listed as a WR/RB on game day so he can come in any time during the game and Penny and Henne will not be disqualifed for the game. and Henne won't be 3rd string on game day god forbid Penny gets hurt Henne will replace him not White, thats why Henne is playing so much in the preseason.

If we keep Chris Williams, that is another Wildcat threat, too. Imagine Ginn, Brown, Williams, and Pat White in the wildcat. I think I just sh*t my pants.
