Did we ever hear what the final contract info was?

How much did we end up paying him?

I've been googling it for forever... I cant find the numbers...

All I've seen is that its a 4 year deal...

Pretty fair contract, IMO. Better value than Porter and Walker, thats for sure.

Rumor has it that the Bills are signing BJohnson to a 6 year 22mil contract...

So, does anyone know how it breaks down? 6mil is a signing bonus... so does the rest of the 7mil get split up over the 4 years for 1.75mil a year? or is it the whole worth of the contract of 13mil get divided up by the 4 years... making it 3.25mil a year?

the signing bonus is spread out over the life of a contract. If the player is cut or traded early it gets accelerated, but for the basics if he plays it out, the $6mill is spread over 4 years just like the rest of the money. A signing bonus is basically promised money the player will make no matter what, even if he gets cut early. The rest of the money isn't guaranteed and could be lost if he is cut. The other portion of the contract usually starts low and gets bigger in the last year, its called backloading a contract.

this is a total example and not the way his contract is laid out because none of us have seen it

signing bonus actual salary

year 1 $1.5 $1

year 2 $1.5 $1.5

year 3 $1.5 $1.5

year 4 $1.5 $3

So, when talking about how much money we are paying him per season... its 3.25? As in 13mil/4?

Guys, bottom line this is a small contract for a #1 or #2 receiver. If we have learned anything over the last week is that Parcells and co will not wreck our salary cap over free agents.
