Wilford weighs 240 now

Did you happen to catch in the other news and notes that Mark Duper is selling his time to parties, bar mitzvah's and attending a Dolphins game with you for only $1,500.00??

I just read the bottom of your post Zounds.:chuckle: Unbelieveable huh?

Best part of that article was the indication that the FO would like to extend Matt Roth's contract. I still think Wilford is a goner regardless of whether or not he can play TE/H-Back, despite the cost.

Back to thread title at hand, wouldn't that be something if Wilford makes and contributes to this team as a TE?? After most of us, myself included wrote him off as a waste. If Wilford makes it and either Bronson, Nalbone or Haynos do as well, I can see David Martin being on his way out.

If he is able to make the transition into the running game and his blocking is equal to the others, I can see him staying.

If Wilford creates confusion and mismatches with our defense, I wonder what Gonzalez will do.... again.

I don't get why some people are completely writing him off. If the front office thought he was truly hopeless he would have been gone by now. It's not exactly like Haynos and Nalbone are locks for the third TE spot. Omar said Wilford looked good at OTA's and could be a big matchup problem for linebackers. We'll just have to see how his blocking holds up along the line...

I believe that Wilford way in is if Martin is on his way out. I have never believed Matin was in the phins plans long term he played well enough last year that no one could supplant him. Kind of hope I am wrong as I beleive that he and Fasano set a Dolphin record last year as a duo of TE with the most receptions. So that proves Martin is decent. The TE battle should be fun to watch taken into consideration how it affect the WR position too.

I think Fasano, Martin and probably Nalbone are locks. The problem is that next year we lose both Fasano and Martin unless we extend/re-sign them. So, the front office wants some other guys to have experience there in case we are unable to resign one or both of them.

I think we will re-sign Fasano, but if Martin has another good year he may be gone as we will not give both of them top dollar. That is why we drafted Nalbone, who is a combo TE who has some speed and size, is a good pass catcher and fair blocker with potential to improve in all areas. Bronson is not as promising, but might make the practice squad.

IMHO, both Wilford and Haynos are on the bubble. They both have size and Wilford offers positional flexibility too, but both face uphill struggles to make the roster I think.

Anything is possible. Alot of people we're calling for David Martins head before the solid season he had last year. And with Fasano, Martin, and Haynos all being FA next year, it can't hurt to try him out.

I think Fasano sticks around after next year.

I am all for it if he can play there decently and beat someone out, but as stated I could see Martin on his way out if Wilford can playe at TE/H Back postion, we could even see him line up at WR like Martin did a few times this year and I think Wilford might actually create more of a mismatch then Martin did.

I think he's too much of a redzone threat to not be here.. 7 td's is definitely very good. Just 3 behind Gonzalez.. now Fasano didn't have the 1000 yards that Gonzalez had, but their TD's are very comparable.
