Wilkins & Grant

75 percent of Tim Bowens, while a good player, is not worth the 13th pick so let’s hope he turns out better than that.
That depends on the strength of the draft and what your team needs the most. So, it seems that you were RONG twice in the same post.

Doesnt change the fact that hes not worth the 13th overall pick, a plug gapping 0 or 1 tech is not worth the 13th overall pick unless hes collapsing the pocket which Bowens didnt do, he just occupied 2 blockers most of the time. Thats not worth the 13th pick, and I love TimBo hes one of my favorite defensive players ever.

Plus he said 75 percent of him, I’ll pass at 13 on that.

So Weaver is going mostly 3-4? I thought we used an equal mix of 4-3 and 3-4?
Its more of a 2-4-5 since they use with Phillips and Chubbs/Robinson as ends who also drop on plays. The 2 being big DTs which in many ways makes sense considering the simple modern shotgun offenses.

I think mostly 3-4, but Grant could be used as a big edge too. Ideally, Miami would find an edge in 2026 who can give you more of a pass rush.

Looking ahead, both Phillips and Chubb are probably not long-term answers either.
I thought that Chops was their guy. I am not crazy about a "smallish" Edge-player, but he did well for a rookie last season. I see Phillips and Chubbs getting hurt again this season, but hope I am wrong.

Interesting.

The dilemma with Phillips and Chubb is what do you do if they rebound and play well?

Do you extend them knowing they both have had multiple injuries and missed a lot of games? Keep one? The 2026 draft is said to be strong at edge. Maybe Miami takes advantage there?

All of this will depend on what the team does this season. I think if McD misses the playoffs, he gets canned and they end up hiring Weaver. If Weaver's D performs and McD's offense does not, the writing is on the wall. The only way we get any continuity is if Weaver stays in the example of McD getting canned.

I am very optimistic for our Edges getting to eat their lunches this year, but why do you leave Phillips off this list? He is projected to start Day One this season off his injury, correct?
I thought I wrote his name. Brain fart on my part.

I agree the comparison to Wilkins last year but can we compare Wilkins when he was drafted and his impact as rookie vs the potential impact Grant will have?

I strongly believe that Grant will be a better pleasure than Wilkins.

I'm thinking Grant makes a quicker impact. I started liking Wilkins his last 2 seasons in Mia, but he did not seem to make a big impact 1st couple of years.
