Raekwon McMillan could become the Miami Dolphins’ first rookie starting middle linebacker in more than a decade. Lawrence Timmons could become a starter at outside linebacker for the first time in six years. And Kiko Alonso could return to starting weakside linebacker for the first time in two years.
If those three things happen in training camp, the Dolphins would get their ideal scenario.
They’d also, at least on paper, have upgraded at a position that badly needed it.

I keep wondering about this. Basically 3 MB's, 2 will play on the outside. It seems for speed, Kiki and McMillian would be best outside, since Timmons has maybe lost a step, probably should play the inside, as he is a thumper. On the outside, I think NE would pick on him all day, especially in coverage. I do hope Misi recovers, he's consistent for us outside. I have high hope that Hewitt finally gets it and become more of a impact player. Hull is definitely an inside guy. The guy from Canada intrigued me as well. Can he make some noise this training camp and give us hope of depth on our LB unit? Right now I have questions, and don't know if Miami has the answers.

I have no reservations about Raekwon. Thankful to have a LB like him on this team. He's exactly what this team needed to add at LB. For those who don't know, I am an Ohio State fan so it's only fair to disclose that. Aside from the fact that Ohio State is an NFL factory, their players are ready to contribute immediately and that's what I expect from McMillan. This kid isn't going to sit and learn, he's going to play and teach. We hear often about some guys that they are an extension of the coaching staff, well that's Raekwon. He's a leader.

Really don't know how they can't be better than last year, we added a second rounder, albeit a rookie, and veteran lb, but add them to Kiko and you have an improved Lbing core, with solid back up that have played in the system for a year.

Compared to what we had before. How could it not? Jenkins was constantly playing hurt, Butler miss so many gap responsibilities etc etc.

Since we cannot be worse, Yes.

I do think this group is pretty talented and you never know if Mcmillan turns into the next stud or bust.

I like our depth at the position. Hull, Hewitt, Misi are good enough to fill in when needed.

Definitely a ton of reasons to be excited about the season.

I'm counting down the days til August 10th like a little kid waiting for Santa lol

As has been stated the linebackers will definitely be better this year, because of how bad they were last. How much better is left to be seen. At this point I am more concerned about the DTs than the LBs.

I have nothing to add, as everyone else has said yes- we really can't be worse. I don't think Timmons will be as big of an addition as we are hoping, but I am excited to watch McMillan and hope he turns out to be a stud.

Next year we need to add 2 new young guys to the rotation also; no matter draft / fa... Timmons / Misi are not going to be reliable for long, Alonso's injury history, and everyone after them is a question mark / known to not be very good.

If they stay healthy then yes, the issue last year Jenkins played hurt all year, MSI missed most of the year on IR and even Kiko was banged up some. We really need that 4th depth linebacker to say certainly yes.
