I should've asked this question during the off season. I know technically next year he will be in his third season, but it will only be his 2nd season where he's actually playing. Or will he have a great season? I guess that all depends on what type of team we have next year. You can't deny the fact that both Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco have had down years this season. Any thoughts?

P.S.: I love Henne and no way being a hater/doubter

Too early to tell. We need to know what will happen during the offseason with draft and free agency. As a dolphin fan, obviously I would like for him to excel in his 2nd season as a starter, but who knows really.

Lets hope the front office will go and get him some real WR's for next year.He will only get better with the whole off season knowing hes the starter.

If you ask some here....he sucked THIS season.

Do I think he will? no....and defintely not if the FO can get a decent WR.

I think this is a fair question.

But how bad are some people on this board when you feel like you have to place a disclaimer in your post so that the homers or doom and gloomers don't come after your head because you're an objective fan?

It's crtainly possible that he suffers a bit of a Sophomore slump, but I think the slumps you see around the league can be explained. I don't know what Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco's deal is this season or how to explain their slumps, but I can almost guarantee that it's something related to an injury, roster addition/subtraction, etc. These guys didn't forget how to play the game and neither will Henne. I think Henne really benefited from sitting behind Pennington for a season. He's done very well considering our circumstances. He's made some bad decisions with the football lately, but what young QB doesn't. We're not built to throw the ball 30+ times a game but we're doing it. Henne ha GARBAGE that he's throwing to and yet he's still htting 300+ yard passing games with a pretty good QB rating. I like where we are headed.

Henne's Stats - 11 TDs 13 INTs 2738 YDs...IF he had played all year that projects to 15 TDs 17 INTs 3650 YDs...I don't see him being able to slump from those stats honestly but if he does we are going 5-11.

I think Henne will be much improved with the things he can correct like putting some touch on the balls and getting better timing down with his WRs.

The 'sophmore slump' could be that teams have a deeper pool of game film on hand to see any tendencies or weakness that they may have and plan appropriately.

Henne didn't have the same success that Flacco and Ryan had last season. Both those players were playing at a very high level for rookies and if they had improved further this season, then they would have been playing near an elite level. Those two set the bar pretty high last season and didn't succed in raising it.

Even though Henne played at a good level this season, he doesn't have to build on anything near the success Ryan and Flacco did this season. Henne didn't play at a high enough level this season where he can be allowed to slump next season IMO.

Uhh i dont know what joe flacco you have been watchin, but he has hardly had a sophomore slump. Just because their record isnt as good doesn't mean its his fault. Football is a TEAM sport. Flacco threw for 2,971 yards 14tds and 12 ints in his rookie year. This year he threw for 3,511 yards 21 tds and 12 ints with still a game to go. Thats not a slump. Matt Ryan has been injured this season but his numbers were respectable when he was in, but i guess you could consider that a slump it just depends how you look at it. As for Henne, the only way he has a slump is if he is stuck with the same receiving core again and maybe in ronnie goes down again. More than likely we will address the WR group in the offseason so i see him doin much better next season.

Henne is not a sophmore by any means, he was not thrown to the lions the has Ryan and Flacco were, so I guess next year will be an upside year for him.

I understand what you are saying about Flacco and that he has more impressive stats than last season, put against teams with winning records he has not been too impressive. His stats are impressive against the likes of the Browns, Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Bears and a Steelers side in flux at the moment, but not against above .500 teams.

He lost us some games this year, but next year hopefully he has learned from his mistakes and can lead us to another division title.

I see where your coming from, but he can only play against who is on the schedule. All in all he has had a great year.

He won us more games than he lost. The one game I think he lost was the overtime game that he got us to in the first place. People are putting way too much of his ints over TD's too. How many ints were tipped passes and at the end of the Buffalo game when he was forcing things he normally wouldn't. Yes, well over half. The guy has been a stud who stands in the pocket. Homers say he holds on to the ball too long, but that is what it takes for our receivers to get open, so they dog Henne for it. I feel confortable about our QB future for the 1st time in a long time. I don't see a QB slump. I see a 3-4000 yard season with 20+ TD's and low ints for years to come!
