I hadn't noticed this posted anywhere else. Article from Northwest Arkansas Times. Guess this will be more relevant in a decade :) Here is one snippet:

I can already hear the complaints. No, I'm not comparing McFadden to Jordan or even Olajuwon, but the potential is there for greatness. And now the Raiders have a great stable of running backs to lean on.

I just wonder if one day the Dolphins will regret passing one of the greatest runners ever to select a good offensive tackle. Time well tell.

We could regret passing ona a whole group of players but this article only assumes that Long will only be good. We needed ol and Qb much more than another rb, silly to even mention us.

Hindsight is always 20/20 so everybody regrets on passing on people all the time. Dont you think the entire league regrets passing on Tom Brady or Zach Thomas in the draft. You make the best pick that you can and do what you feel is best for you team and you live with your decision. We have 2 starting calaber running backs here in Ricky and Ronnie, why add a 3rd RB when your line is too weak to even block for them. We did the right thing, you build from the inside out. We have a solid line right now and they could be great in the next few year.

Out of all the positions of need on our team RB was one of the least priorities, IMO the least as I believe Ronnie will stay fit. Yeah McFadden could be great but it wasn't an area than needed instant improvement, the O-Line was.

Short answer .. No ... we will not regret 'not picking him' ... no matter how 'good' he might turn out to be

On the other hand, how many SB's did Gale Sayers, OJ Simpson, Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson and Barry Sanders ever win?
Franchise backs rarely propel their teams to SB's. Great O-lines with above average QB's and RB's win SB's.
Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith were very good backs. HOWEVER, they are NOT in the same league as the guys mentioned above. They won SB's because they were a part of great teams.

No i don't think we will regret passing on Mcfadden. I think there's more of a chance of us regretting passing on Brady Quinn than on DMAC.

umm, oakland chose Mcfadden #4 right ? So why are we the ones who passed DMC ?? Dont tell me either of their RB cores is much better than ours. (STL, ATL )
When ronnie and ricky look like 2005 x2... i hardly think we'll regret not making such a boneheaded move as to pick DMC #1 overall. This guy probably ragged on Houston for not taking Reggie Bush #1 too then.
