be the starter in '06? I've herd from some people on this site and various others that Saban is really pleased with him and he might end up being our guy next year. Time and time again I've said this team is a good CONSISTANT quarterback from being a playoff team. With Frerrote at QB, this team will never get there. I know he has had some great games like the Denver and SD games, but, he is sooo inconsistant and i would hate to say us stick with him even if our QB is a learning rookie.

WIll gus start in '06?

If we only draft a quarterback he will be.
For a certain amount of time anyways, like the situation with Jon Kitna/Carson Palmer in Cincinnati in 2004 :D

I sure would love if it we had the result the Bengals got out of that. But still, I think this team can make the playoffs NEXT YEAR:dolphins:

Yes, I think Gus will be our starter in 2006. This is how I see it all breaking down:

Gus will be the starter.

Saban and Mueller will draft a QB of the future in round one or two, who will then be the #2 QB behind Frerotte.

The Dolphins will sign Printers to a one year deal and let him compete with Lemon in TC for the third QB spot.

They let Rosenfels walk.

It depends on what the Dolphis do regarding the qb situation. If they go the FA or trade route I would expect they would be looking for a starter, not a back-up. In that scenario Gus would likely remain as the back-up. If the Dolphins draft a qb, I suspect Gus will start and serve as a mentor until the "young gun," is ready.

Sage and/or Cleo may be given a chance to win the starting job. If one of them does Gus would likely remain as the back-up.

I wouldn't mind a scenario like this

Sounds like you need to be our GM ;)

Gus starter in 06? Please dont add insult to injury while I'm watching the Pats Spank the Bucs

Probably not. We desperately need a new QB and I think Saban will make his it priority to get a good QB.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, "Int'westing"! I agree with Buddwalk, Nublar for GM!

I don't know about starting, but I do think that he will stink around next year. Here is what I would like to do, we pick up Jon Kitna and we draft a QB with one of our first three picks. With that we would have 5 QB's on the team....Frerotte, Kitna, Rookie, Lemons and Printers. I think that it would be best if we keep four QB's on the roster for the 2006 season and let Lemon and Printers compete for the 4th spot. If that all does happen (which it prob won't), then that means that Kitna or Freotte would start next season for us. Again, the chances of this is very slim, I just think it would be sweet to have two young talented guys and two vets who can teach these young guys about the NFL.

Gus will definitely be the starter next year. Why ruin the chemistry and timing that he has built with the receivers, just to put in another journeyman QB that will be replaced by the QB we draft this year. Gus sill has a big arm, and can avoid a sack as good as anybody. Next year we will upgrade the O line, and receivers, and draft our QB of the future. Giving the rookie QB a year to learn the system, and also giving Saban another year to strengthen the team will only give the rookie QB a better chance for success.

The only ways that I see Gus not starting next year would be:

A) We sign Drew Breeze. This is not going to happen.

B) We sign Matt Leinart. This is also not going to happen.

C) Gus and the #2 QB go down with injury. If we draft Cutler, and Gus goes down ofter mid-season then maybe he gets the start.

Yea what chemistry 50% completion ratio and 27th ranked QB. We went to a super bowl with David Woodly that does not make him something he is not. You cannot tell me that the QB position is not in need of an upgrade. I love all these people pointing out Rivers's flaws but ignore Frerotte's abundent flaws.
