born and raised in the Midwest, I’ve never had the dolphins outside of the ticket/online.

I’ll be living in Gulf Shores, AL for most of the football season - curious what team gets covered in that area? Falcons, saints, one of the Florida teams? Ever any dolphins games?

Not sure who gets the CBS slot there.
I doubt you'll see the Dolphins on Fox unless they play a somewhat local team there.

I would say the Jags for CBS, but not sure how far the Titans and Texans reach into 'Bama.

This link will be your best source for coverage. I live in Central Florida and the Dolphins don't get much preference here on tv, so I doubt your area will be any better. Probably looking at a lot of Saints, Falcons, Panthers games where you live.

I think you’ll get some games on occasion. You’re really close to what appears to be a popular cutoff line for the distribution maps but it seems like if you were in gulf shores last year you might have gotten all these games:

Family has a place in Gulf Shores and I’ve only stayed there in the preseason but the games were televised on the local networks.

BTW Gulf Shores is awesome.

Heres what I did in the bay area, I used mullvad vpn and set my location to miami. I then payed the 5 or so dollars for the streaming cbs app foxsports is free if you already have a cable subscription. I also had the nfl ticket online and would set my vpn to somewhere away from the miami or the team they were playing so It would be on the ticket. Worked well all season. Of course you need a pc hooked up to a computer or a router capable of using a vpn so you can use a smart tv or other streaming device.

That's crazy to me. In my state we've got one college team...nothing else. Crazy to think if a state actually has a pro team, it might only be shown to a small portion of the state...because there are other stinkin' pro teams in the same state.

How does the fan ratio break down in Florida, between the Fins, Jags, and Bucs?

Serious question stacked on top of this serious question:

I’m moving to the Gulf Coast within a year - the North Port/Cape Coral area; I’m also planning on cutting the cable within a month. One of my expenditures to that end will be a HDTV antenna. Now, I have determined that the TV market I’ve moved to is more of a Tampa Bay TV market, depending on the affiliate. But I also determined that to get Dolphins games, I don’t have to pick up the Miami stations; I only have to pick up the Fort Myers stations. I currently live in the mountains of NE PA, so that sort of distance with a HDTV antenna is unlikely here. I’m hoping for better luck in the flat lands of SFL. That’s about 75-100 miles.

Does anyone else by some miracle have this situation? I’d sure as heck love to spend $50 on a good HDTV antenna than a good chunk more on DirecTV.

I mean Cape Coral is basically Fort Myers so your first line of local channels will be the Fort Myers channels.

North Port is quite a bit trickier as it is like right in between the Tampa and Fort Myers TV towers so it may be something you are going to have to experiment with. If you can go rooftop it would definitely help.

And yea I cut cable 5 years ago. You can invest in a $50 HDTV antenna but to be honest if you have a direct angle to the TV towers . . .a $10 HDTV antenna will be pretty much as effective as a $50 one. Trust me I have tried many, thinking I was upgrading, and the difference was not noticeable.

I currently pick up about 70+channels analog and over 100+ digital.

I bought a Winegard about 10 years ago, mounted it to the side of my house. Crystal clear reception for channels 70 miles away, even during storms it holds a signal unlike Direct tv. I've never had to adjust it for tuning, set it and forget it. The higher up it is the better the reception and clarity. I have mine about 6 foot up mounted to a pole on eave.

Here are some various types that work good.

Well AFC games used to be only on CBS, minus 2 games vs NFC but now the NFL changed all that so it's hard to tell anymore. In Central Florida, the Bucs and Jags take precedent over the Dolphins. We used to always get Dolphins games when Jags were at home but that's changed too. Last couple years Dolphins coverage went from about 10-12 games viewable down to about 7-8.
