"The number that stands out with Garoppolo: 2.17. That's how many seconds (on average) it took for him to get rid of the ball Sunday night. Last year, Brady averaged 2.26 seconds before passing, which was second-fastest in the NFL.

This is how the Patriots' offense is designed to work -- a quick passing game that makes it hard for opposing pass-rushes to get home. And they didn't change things for Garoppolo. He executed in Week 1 and now gets three home games against the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills."

If that's the case, I'm assuming our db's play up close and physical and avoid giving up a big cushion. Every time I see that it blows my mind. Short passes will take away our strength which Bill does. Let's see how our defense holds up.

time to see what this press zone scheme is good for. You wanted big physical corners now knock edelman and amendola on their butt before they cross the line of scrimmage.

Garapollo has an excellent release and throwing mechanics. It's only a few elements among many needed, but they are both exemplary and translate to good overall accuracy.

The pass rush will be effective at times but not enough to overcame the soft middle of the defense. The CBs, aren't nearly as physical as advertised. Press technique is used 50/50 and the Howard may be the most substantial of the mediocre bunch, but he still has some obvious blemishes in his coverage game.

You need to take Edelman out of his timing, routes, and gang tackle him other wise he is going to have a good game. He seems to be the offensive motivator with Tom and Gronk out.

Dan Marino got rid of the ball faster than anyone ever did so the pass rush just couldn't get to him. DC's then started to drop 8 and rush only 3. Their thinking was if we can't get to him then lets at least cover everyone and at times it worked but of course not always as Marino was so good. This kid is not as good but he does have a better running game behind him. Still, I'd drop more to cover and hope the D-line can stop their running game.

Ozzy rules!!

No, and it won't be because of the QB. It will be because of the holding.

Bingo, Edleman will probably have 9, 10 cataches. I said this in another thread the guy is like rubber, seen him take some serious hits and bounce back up. Maybe we can get him off his routes a little IDK.

Also they had a running game last week will have to see if we can slow that also.

Should be noted that after Patrick Peterson, Arizona's CB's are much worse than Miami's. Peterson is great, but one stud CB doesn't mean much against NE, because they don't rely on one receiver. Miami should match up better.

NE should still be favored, but Arizona didn't match up well at all with NE.

I see what you're saying, but at least they have a formidable player at CB. NE get's to pick and choose how it will beat Miami's corners.

DM had one heck of a line not to mention receivers who would come down with the big catch. Different era, different rules

Key will be the safeties and stopping the run. If our safeties are very physical and support the running game I think NE will have some third and long situations, then our pass rush should get some sacks

We better have a good defensive plan in place!

The refs need to call those pick plays the Pats run all the time. They won't but they should.

It would be great to take a page from the hooded ones past. Just like he did to the Rams during the Super Bowl, be very physical all game with the receivers. Since they are small and fast, pummel them until they hear footsteps.

Well, he had a good oline at pass protection but they couldn't run block and yes, we did have some great receiver like Duper and Clayton and Moore plus Nathan could catch out of the backfield but we need to fix it up. We can't just let the pats dictate to us. If we just sit back there one on one we're going to get killed. Can't blitz much but have to blitz at some point and when you do our corners can't give them any cushion or it will defeat the purpose. Of course the best thing we can do is have our offense control the darn clock for a change and keep their O on the sidelines.

Ozzy rules!!
