Hey guys i havent been able make it out to camps and see for myself but for the most part the reports i've read are a little disheartening regarding White's execution, but for some reason the entire league is stoked about this kid and what he's going to do for our team. Do you guys think that White is gonna see action week 1, or will he not be ready?

He doesn't have to QB the offense, he will only be doing wildcat stuff. The team hasn;t done much wildcat in training camp, I think they will wait until private practices so I guess there is no real way to know.

But remember, the Senior Bowl, Pat White was awful in the practices but then was the best player in the game. Maybe he is one of those guys who just doesn't practice well.

I don't see why not....reading daily reports have all QB's showing some rust and problems. We aren't looking at White to be the golden boy....just a good cog in a great wheel.

i hear ya but this is a very important cog. More important than patrick cobbs or brian hartline or david martin. it depends alot on his decision making and that could be a crucial threat considering that he's a run-first rookie and teams wont respect his vertical skills until he can prove that he's got them at the professional calibur. So by challenging him and showing the same formations that they do vs. brown, (8 in the box) we would actually be in worse condition considering that he doesnt have the running skills brown does.

And until proven otherwise, most rookie QB's comming out of camp are considered to me more of a liability than asset when it comes to throwing. Dont get me wrong i'm no trying to say "he sucks, he will always suck" its not that at all. I'm just seeing alot of threads predicting us on going to the playoffs or winning the division for the 2nd year in a row and i would say we could probably do that if things work out as planned with White. Particularly within the first 3 regular season games of the year would be crucial for our new wrinkles to be unveiled.

Basically what i'm getting at is that he hasta be able to show some promise throughout the pre-season and regular season for other teams to regard him as a legitimate threat.

What alot of people, inside and outside the organization and fanbase are saying is that the beauty of our "cog" is that hey may not run as well as brown or williams, but he opens doors for them by presenting a vertical threat that wasnt there with brown. We just gotta hope its there on game day.

The good news is you need to know a million things to start as an NFL QB.

And Pat White won't need to know them.

All he will need to know is the dozen or so plays they are drawing up for the wildcat/spread offensive plays.

He's a bright kid, that won't be hard for him to master.

nah man, pat white will know all of the offense..he is our 3rd string qb. What good is a 3rd string qb who only knows "12" plays?

Marino didn't know but a handful of plays when he was put in...his teammates had to tell him what the plays were until he learned.

So limme get this straight...its acceptable as a qb to only know 12 plays? Must be nice to sign that multi million dollar contract and only know 12 plays...I think Ronnie knows more than 12 wildcat plays

No what you need to get straight is...IF Shula could put in Marino raw...and he was starting...why couldn't White play at least 12 snaps a game until he learns the total offense?

Bro, that is exactly what I think White will be doing. Exactly what you said which is play around that many plays. Thats fine. But just because he plays a certain amount of plays on the field doesnt mean thats the amount of plays he knows. Pat White will know the same plays as pennington and henne. Lets set this god forbidden situation. We dont sign penny back and we are left with henne and white. White is hennes back up but white is a wildcat specialist. so Henne's back up only knows 12 plays..thats unacceptable and im pretty sure the FO knows this. He's a wildcat specialist but he will and prolly still run some of the base offense weather it be this year or whenever he gets a chance.

In preseason when White plays, he wont be running just wildcat plays. They prolly wont even run much of the wildcat , atleast I hope they dont in preseason. Hell, hes already running base offense in camp right now.
