Chad needs a third shoulder surgery, and it doesn't sound like he's ready to go through with it for the third time. There's a good chance he retires.

Could he then immediately sign on with the Dolphins in a coaching capacity? We've now got three young QBs on this roster, brimming with athletic potential but obviously lacking the cerebral, scholarly intangibles of Pennington. Could he assist David Lee with coaching the QBs? Is that allowed? Are there any restrictions on joining a team in another capacity once you retire?

I hope he doesn't rush any decisions with his shoulder, career, etc., and no matter what he decides I wish him the best. But I'd really love for him to stay around this team, even if that means his detractors will continue to use him as the scapegoat for everyone else's poor play.

I saw that...does that necessarily mean he wants to keep playing? I'd assume he'd need to have the surgery even if he was going to regularly throw again...as a coach, father, etc.

Why? What KNOWLEDGE could this dude bring to the table? Its evident that he does not have the drive, leadership or alpha male qualities needed to be respected. No way in the world a LEADER would allow subpar play from his teammates.

The Dolphins dont need another voice in the camp saying lets play 'safe' football. The Jets dropped this dude for a reason.

Would love to have him on our coaching staff.. and if not, from here on in, I'll be in his corner unless he's playing us or his team influences our chances directly or indirectly. He's the ultimate class act. However, I did read somewhere that when(ever) he retires, he's considering with the idea of going back to WV to coach high school ball (and fish with Bumpus).

I read the same thing, although I must have missed the part about fishing with Bumpus. Seriously though, he would probably be one heck of a Qb coach right out of the box

Having Dr Andrews do the 3rd surgery sounds to me like he thinks he can still play next year. If not here than somewhere else.

I think he would be a great addition to the coaching staff. Very positive influence on young QBs. If he had never injured his shoulder, this would not even be a discussion right now. Before the initial surgery. he gave us fits when we played the Jets. He is an exceptional leader, has incredible work ethic and is a class act.

He'll be on the sidelines working with Henne the rest of this season so in a sense, this could be the start of a coaching career. What ever level he coaches, somebody will bevery fortunate to have him.

You're way off man. His teammates here and new york respected him tremendously. He can bring alot to a team as a coach.

While I agree that CP10 would make a great QB Coach/Assistant I cant sit back and believe that he would call it quits on playing. The man has a drive to play and after the ride last year I would put down some good money that he will try to do what ever he can to play next year (Miami or elsewhere).

I hope at the very least he sticks around practices and games (is that possible while on the ir?) to help out Chad, Pat, and now Tyler in what ever way he can.

Of course they 'respected' him. What were they supposed to say?

What would he bring to the team as a coach?

Leadership? No
Authority? No
Respect from being an all-pro? No
Fire / Enthusiasm? No
Tenure? No

WHAT are you smoking????????????????????????????:tumbleweed:

R you Serious ?????:ponder::crazy:

We would not have DONT NOTHING LAST YEAR with out His leadership..Yes the Staff and so forth Made a Diff on the Team , but FINAL Impact was Due to Him.....!!!!
I think that keeping him on as a coach is the LEAST THE DOLPHINS can do atleast till the end of the Season... Whether he ever plays or not is all on Him...But Your COMPLETELY Wrong for thinking like that..
I know Chad had Many FAULTS ..But if you look back at the PAST 2 GAMES... He gave HIS ALL ...... Starting from the PASS to Ginn against the Colts...To the BLOODY Nose ,DUDE got back up an Played..Consider his AGE and injuries........................................

Bringing him onto the coaching staff would be great.

But I would much rather him come back completely healthy, go to a different team (his time playing QB for the Dolphins is over) and win a championship. That's what I hoping for Penny.
