Yes I know it sounds crazy but with 2010 being an uncapped year in the NFL players need six years to become UFAs and not four.. Therefore Ronnie would just become a RFA in 2010.. Maybe it's now even more important to sign him to an extension..
Sorry if you guys already know that but I haven't seen it posted before..

• The top eight playoff finishers from the previous season would be allowed to sign free agents only at the rate at which they lose them.
• Players would need six NFL seasons to be eligible for free agency, rather than four.
• Each team would be allowed to restrict two eligible free agents with "franchise" or "transition" player tags, rather than one.

Each of these players completed their fourth year last season. But the collective bargaining agreement that eliminates the salary cap in 2010, also says that players do not get to become unrestricted free agents until their sixth season.

First off, it's not set that next year will be uncapped. Second, restricted isn't that bad, how much would we get in draft picks in return for losing him?

they should resign him now since they could try to get him as the price of a player whos only had 1000 yard.. season hed probably lose money on his contract or sign about the same sized one

i am almost certain that the NFL will get a deal done to keep the salary cap... NFL wouldnt be the same without a cap. Thats i reason i dont like baseball as much

I hope that, too.. Hopefully they can get a deal done on the next owners meeting..

I know this may be unpopular but I believe that if Brown has a 09 season much like 08, Fins will use the "Crowder" technique and let him test FA.

Running Backs have the shortest shelf life in the NFL, lots of very good backs can be had in later rounds, and theres always a veteran star getting released for cap reasons.

If Brown, on the other hand, shows flashes of 07, where he was running over and past everyone before his injury, Fins will pay through the nose to keep him.

Given if Tuna is still here, I dont see a Parcells regime paying big bucks for a RB if Brown doesnt break out next year.

if brown doesn't break out this year, he might be able to walk unless he takes money for like the 10th best RB... if someone overpays, he walks...

I love ronnie, and hope we keep him..

Ricky will also be a FA, and didn't cobbs sign a 2 year deal during the season this year?

that'd make all three guys up, and if hilliard spends the season on the psquad again, this is his last year of eligibility and he must be signed to a roster after that..

so all of our guys will be FA's..
I hope we resign ronnie for like a 5 year, 34$mil. cobbs for like a 3 year 5 million.
and then we should draft someone in the second round next year. I'd love a speed back, a sproles or c.johnson... or maybe a heavy? like mcclain or b.jacobs..
ricky might even be cut this year, he was clutch with a few of those catches.. but he had to have been high when he dropped that wildcat play in the jet game...
and frankly he's just no that good..

If we get Jason Brown and draft DukeRobinson in round one we are set with a top 3 OLine... if we have that line, ricky could be high as hell and might run for 1800 again..

Pretty sure Ricky said he's in it for the rest of his career here if it is up to him.

This could be his last season in fact. If you recall before last season Ricky stated he would play two more years and then retire.

Still no hurry to resign him, we still hold all the cards. Why not let see what he does this year so we can determine what his value is.

Aww man if they have an uncapped year it will never go back to being capped without a strike. They had better figure that **** out
