Will Shields was cut by the Chiefs and he is a very dominant guard/center when he's on his game. I know he's old but he's not as old as Mawae who people were talking about bringing in. Sheilds is just as good as Bentley and he'll probably come cheaper because he's older. He has 1-2 good years left imo. I think we should sign him if the cap allows.

Has he ever played center?
we don't need a center, Hadnot would do well enough with Shields next to him and James on the other side.

Shields has not yet been cut. Even if he is, he will probably be resigned. Shields has been contemplating retirement and I do not see why he would come back only to leave KC after 13 years. Shields is a great guard and you would not want to move him, even if he is not what he used to be. He is not a longer term solution though, he has 1 or 2 more years at most.

i was just listening to mr. shields on sirrius nfl and he said he would like to play with a playoff quality team,he also said he wouldn't mind being a cap frieldy person as long as he is appreciated and wants a superbowl ring b4 he decides to retire,he also said he still is healthy and loves playing football. from what i was listening from him he is intelligent and can play eitherside guard and center if needed, and could adapt to any nfl team. he is definitly a student of the game. i would love to see him next to hadnot on the OL this year. lets hope KC wants to go younger and saban signs him to a 2yr. contract.

Has anyone heard anything further on whether it was confirmed or not that Will Shields was released?

If he can open holes even half the size of the ones LJohnson was waltzing through last year hes worth whatever he money he wants. Ronnie and Ricky would absolutely destroy defenses with holes like that.

That's a great pick up. We gotta pray to the pigskin gods that the CBA gets sorted out because our cap situation will be horrid if otherwise. If the CBA doens't get done, look for Brees to be the only big time name to be brought in.

Will Shields WILL BE the best Offensive Lineman available in free agency, Better than Hutchinson, better than Bentley. But if we do sign him I don't want any other veteran Lineman. Any other Offensive Lineman we get should be through the draft.

A Super Bowl ring?

Shields could be a 1st ballot hall-of-famer. This is the kind of guy who would set a high bar for the other linemen to play up to and provide a lot of veteran leadership for those guys.
