Well, I see those numbers as nothing more than pyrite, they were a product of scheme that exploited motion loopholes (that the NFL closed the following year, and to the credit of McD for seeing those loopholes).

The moment those loopholes were closed and DCs figured out without that exploit that they could take the middle of the field away Tua was exposed just like he was exposed under Flores.

He never had metrics or "It" to be a QB worthy of his draft selection or that stupid contract. He only stayed because people refused to accept that reality and tried to justify picking him in that draft over Herbert and Love.

I agree with your position that Tua’s height of success was about scheme but different from your conclusion that Tua got exposed when the first read got taken away.

I believe the scheme got exposed, especially once Tyreek went out.

I love Kurt Warner’s film breakdowns of Tua. Yes, Tua makes his share of mistakes that get pointed out but he also notes so many bad scheme issues like route combinations that put the QB in difficult progression if the primary is taken away.

I imagine McDaniel will do better with Herbert. He’s a flat out better QB than Tua and literally has the record for most passing yards through first 5 seasons. All he has to do is not **** it up.

And Mcd's apparent obsession with TH/Waddle *ALWAYS* 1st in progression. That means the D concentrated on those two, knowing the pass rush wouldn't allow TT to 'progress' any further. Offensive genius

Genius when you know your Qb contracts when those first couple "quick-fire" reads are congested. From my observation, the longer tua has time in the pocket, the worse he plays. So he's quick and efficient without any processing involved, sure.. you just better have the best puppeteer if that's the case.

Robo tua would have to be programmed successfully by his operator to refine parts of his game to have sustained success. Throwing the ball away when defenses have his primary "spots" congested, would be a nice addition. Unfortunately even McDaniel must have had the sobering realization that tua's lack of awareness will continue to spill over....he wasn't able to successfuly program him. I don't see tua ever possessing a "flow" and instinctual feel for the pocket that elite qbs do.

Much more I could expand on the psychological influence at play here with tua but it's in the rear view mirror now.
Hypnotherapy could serve tua very well... Plant medicine too would expand his consciousness. If ever did "bounce back" it would come after a total transformation of his consciousness.

Please add another option.

No, his injuries have taken away his abilities permanently.

2018 prehip Tua was a STUD!

Hmm seems this stud has been lazy since college

Nick Saban wanted to get a message across to his quarterback.

“In May, Saban told reporters that he believed Tua Tagovailoa needed to “challenge himself to get back into great shape.” Tagovailoa was coming off a tremendous season, but struggled with nagging injuries and turnovers late in the year”

No, I don't mean like his head bouncing off the turf (God forbid he goes to a home astroturf stadium)

Tua checked out of football a minute after signing his multi hundred million dollar contract. His passion is now golf.
The Dolphins made a huge mistake drafting him, and an even bigger mistake signing him to a long term contract. What's done is done and for the 2028 season the Dolphins should be finished paying for their Tua-related mistakes.
So, the plan is for the 2026 and 2027 season the Dolphins work on putting together effective offensive and defensive lines, so that for the 2028 season the team can compete to win playoff games and make it to a Super Bowl.

'23 begs to differ
For the 2023 season the Dolphins were 11-6, including losing 3 of their final 5 regular season games, and in a wild card playoff game they got blown out by the Chiefs.
You believe this type of performance is evidence that Tua was a good QB for the Dolphins?
He stinks and he embarassed the team by asking Mahomes for an autographed jersey after the Dolphins got dominated by the Chiefs.

I don’t think so, his first coach was to hard on him so he wasn’t good. His 2nd coach made him to confident so he wasn’t good. Hes a weird player that needs the perfect coach to be just above average but he’s got a weak arm. His best attribute is timing and nfl defenses are just to quick

I think it’s outright disrespectful that our franchise qb was not there to greet our new head coach

But, he’s on vacation so he couldn’t be there

Listen, get your fat ass on a plane and show your new head coach some respect :)

Seriously though, if he had any sense as a true franchise qb he would fly Back here to see the man in person imo

I understand your sentiment, but I think Tua knows or has been told he’s not coming back and likely a post 1 June cut.

He's toast mentally. Forget it. He has 1 objective and that's to not get hurt. He has a family and doesn't want to end up drooling all over himself before he hits 50. Once a player in a violent sport makes that his #1 objective, its over. If he has any competitive spirit left then perhaps turning into a golfer is more his sport now.
