I know we were shopping him in the offseason, and he's only had 4 catches with limited opportunities, so far this year. I like his passion and he seems to have decent hands with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. He's still on his rookie deal until the end of next year, but I just got twitter (lol) and starting following him. He seems really frustrated here; at least by the way I'm interpreting some of his tweets lately.
Do we think he stays here long term, or is this another instance of a guy walking and having a respectable career elsewhere?
I personally think a top three of Wallace, Landry and Matthews could be a pretty dynamic group next year. Does he stick, or are we getting the sense that Philbin doesn't like his 'attitude'?

I believe you have to give Matthews a shot at some of Hartline's snaps.

He's more dynamic but not as "consistent," but when Mr. Consistent Hartline drops passes, loses separation, disappears in redzone, misses blocks and creates drive-killing holds, you have to realize at some point that "consistency" is an illusion that will kill high level success.

Give Matthews a chance.

FREE MATTHEWS!

I agree! I want to see more of Matthews. He seems to be very physical when given his opportunities.
Hartline has been a big disappointment this year...can't believe I almost bought his jersey this offseason. At least he's almost out of guaranteed money, I think.
I hope Philbin is black balling Matthews from PT because of his attitude earlier this year, or whatever the deal was.

Lazor doesn't like Matthews. So no, he will be on another team soon.

Which is utterly ridiculous. He's a better player than Hartline. I think some of his issues is that he fails to get separation at times - but so does Hartline and every other player on this team not named Wallace or Clay.

I love how everyone here thinks Matthews is some pro bowler or something. He's done nothing in this league and there's a reason he's not starting, never mind that he's football dumb. He'll be gone and easily replaced no big deal. I just don't see the fascination in this guy like some of you do.

Well that's upsetting. What's Lazor's beef?
Very frustrating because I think Matthews will find plenty of success, if he goes to a different team.

Hartlines abilities seem to be on the decline. His time as the unsuspecting guy dwindling. Teams account for him and phase him completely out of games now.

Eh I know there is a fh love in but Matthews is just a guy to me. Decent 3rd or 4th wr who makes the occasional flashy play

He is what? Our 5th wr? Decent player but he isn't one of the top 10 or so players I'm interested in seeing advance within the roster

It's not fascination for me. It's a real desire to upgrade the #2 WR spot right now being held back by Hartline.

Just wanting to upgrade the spot before the season is done. Which means you gotta find someone on the roster to do so.

Matthews is next up.

I think Hartline was a solid WR before, but it seems like he's lost a step since his knee injury.

At this point, I think Rishard Matthews and Damian Williams should be getting more reps

I just do not think he is in the top three of receivers. Injuries will happen and he will have to be ready.

I have a pretty strong feeling that Miami adds a receiver in the 2015 draft and phases out both Hartline and Gibson. Hartline is a good player, but he has struggled. I do like Matthews, but I'm not sure the coaching staff likes him as much as the fans. I honestly look for the team to draft a big, physical receiver to complement Wallace and Landry. Louisville's Parker (injured) is the kind of player that might be a perfect fit for the Dolphins and might be drafted later than his talent indicates.

Matthews hasn't shown enough consistency to warrant warrant more playing time. He's a tease and can be easily replaced.
While i would like to upgrade the #2 starting WR, Matthews isn't up to the job.

I agree. I think both Hartline and Gibson are gone next year. It's unfortunate because Gibson was tearing it up last year prior to getting hurt.

Matthews and Gibson have fell victim to "Juice"....as a rookie he has played better and has significantly more upside then either of those gentlemen...
