By Monday at 1 am....this thing is MILES from land let alone south Florida....now I know that predicting this thing is not an exact science and human life is wayyyy more important than a Dolphin game...( at least thats what my girlfriend keeps telling me) but....man...play this game on Saturday night....

people like you need to come down and experiance one of these things. there is NOTHING trivial about having everyone and everything threatened with destruction. You are so friggen confident, so know it all, why don't you join the national hurricane center prediction commitee I'm sure they could use you expertise. I really aggravates me that you "predictors" sit back and second guess people working VERY hard to keep ME safe.

Well when they changed the game, it was scheduled to be there sooner. It has slowed down. Also I see you are from Ohio as am I originally(live in FL now), but when they set a "landfall" time for a hurricane, that is for the eye. There is rain in South Florida right now from Wilma. These things are big!!

know what you mean, i don't know how many threads i read of people saying crazy stuff like that, some said to have the game on Monday after the hurricane, they do not know the devastation after a hurricane even a CAT 1, they really need to come down during Cane season and ride one out so they could go home and tell their friends back home.

Thank you. This bears bumping.

At the time the decision was made, the storm was projected to move much faster than it is now. Given the uncertainty of tropical storm prediction, the forecast could change back to a Sunday landfall by tonight, so they made the best decision they could at the time.

this is hilarious. so what now weatherman? the hurricane won't be here till tuesday? just keep moving that day back. saturday, then sunday, then monday, now tuesday.

i like picking on the weatherman.

you're right they didn't but the NFL was going on what the experts were saying on the speed of the storm, but it has slowed down.

the decision to move the game was based on info they had on Tue/Wed. The predictions then were for a Sunday am strike of the Naples area. That has been revised since the steering currents are still holding the storm back. You can't predict these things 100%...it's still a pot shot when the thing starts to turn due to upper level weather systems...This is not like predicting the nighttime low temps or a low pressure moving thru most inland areas. At any rate, for those people who are 'sane', there wouldn't be anyone in the area to watch the game (live)...also, even tho the storm won't "hit" the area until late Sunday (as of right now), the effects will be felt starting 6-12 hours before that...ease up fellow...this is something even the mighty NFL can't control or predict....

thanx cnc, tell them like it is. they have no idea what its like dealing with this stuff and the danger it could emply

I too find it funny how people who have never experienced a Hurricane, just trivalise them, these are scary things and cause a lot of damage, people need to be able to evacuate and having the game pushed back to Saturday cause it Might be here Monday is idiotic, what happens if it gets off the Yucatan, catches a jet stream and steams NE into S. Fl at 20 mph and gets there Saturday night. Also as another poster mentioned, these things are massive and the outer bands are now starting to hit S. FL, here are a couple pictures taken yesterday in Grand Cayman, one is outside my parents house and the other is a restaurant by the water. Looking at these pictures remember that the eye of Wilma was over 130 miles away from GC, and we only got TS to CAT 1 winds.

Hurricane's are no little kitty cat, they are the Lion of storms and need to be treated as such and some bloody football game isn't half as important as getting the hell out alive.
