Winborn was cut by Denver, I think He is an upgrade at LB that plays well in space, can shed blockers and is decent vs. the pass. Maybe Roth can get us a 4th rd pick, although Winborn might be able to move inside in our system and displace Crowder or Ayodele. Does anyone think he can outplay Crowder? I haven't had a chance to watch him much so most of my conjecture is based on recent stats......any help out there? Anyway, if we could get a 4th for Roth we could use that to get an extra LB this draft, I think we are going to have to flood this position for camp this year. I have have watched Winborn play a few years back and he is more athletic than Roth and I really am surprised at Matt's tenacity but I think someone is going to need Matt at DE more than we need him trying to cover TE's.

Isn't Winborn like basically a dinosaur by NFL standards?

He probably doesn't fit the 3-4 and that's why Denver cut him.

don't know if that would be much of an upgrade. he's only 5-11 and about 230 pounds. he's not much of a pass rusher at all. and he's older. i'll pass on him.

Had kind of a breakout year and got more playing time, decent #'s vs the pass and 99 tackles! He is behind DJ on the depth chart and I really am worried about Roth's fit in this system....he can be a real liability at times. I like the guy and all (great motor) but I still think he gets moved this year. I see no harm in bringing in Winborn for a look see. Probably shouldn't tie these two moves to each other but he does cover that side of the field with decent numbers....maybe the sacks go up in our system, since the 4-3 doesn't call on him to rush much?

I don't think he fits the 3-4 system. Denver's switching to it, so it's probably the reason they cut him.

Yeah....that elusive combination of size, strength and mobility is hard to come by...who in the draft best fits that 3-4 mold and will be available. OLB's and the Nose are the keys to this D but it is gonna be difficult to find elite players at all three positions now that our DE's are pretty set. This is what gets us fans dreaming another C. Pace becomes available. (what a miss)

Quick question. Who would be interested in trading Roth for a 4th? I don't see any team willing to do that.

Winborn is a 4-3 WOLB ideally suited for the Tampa cover 2 scheme. He would not fit in Miami's scheme. Winborn's best bet IMO is Seattle.

Of those the Donkeys released, Koutouvides may provide some depth @ ILB. Marquand Manuel (Safety) is a stretch. If Vonnie is released or even reworks his contract then Engleberger could provide depth but is he big enough to be a 3-4 DE?

Why does everyone want to get rid of Roth? It's only his 2nd year playing in this scheme and it's a new position for him to play as well. Give him some time and he's going to be a great player for us. It's about we started keeping our players and draft picks, guys that are Miami Dolphins.

Denver was one of the worst Rush defenses in the league. Winborn is a solid LB, but he is not the answer.
