I don’t understand the current coaching staff as to why Ronnie Brown is not getting the ball more. I hate howRonnie and Ricky are splitting carries. I am fine with Ricky touching the ball but ONLY if Ronnie will get 20 plus carries a game. Ronnie will not be effective getting the ball 11 times a game. If this continues we are going to struggle a ton to run the football and to win a game. You can even compare the running backs the Cowboys had when BP was in Dallas. GO compare Julius Jones and Marion Barbers numbers when they get less than 20 carries a game and more than 20 carries a game. Jones had one game last year with 16 carries as his season high. In years past he was more successful with more carries. How can you expect a running back to be successful when he is only getting the ball 10 or so times a game? Ronnie needs the ball 20 times or more to establish a rhythm and to get back on track to the way he was playing football before the injury.

We still lost a lot of those games. Plus this line sucks so it doesn't really matter how many times Ronnie gets the rock.

people always confuse cause and effect

teams that are leading the game run the ball more than those that are trailing

i agree Ronnie needs more touches, but it would also help if we werent always down by 14+ points. that makes it harder to run the ball consistently

Cant run 20+ times when we are behind in the scoreboard. Also, We have to connect on some longer pass plays before we can get Defenses to stop putting 7-8 people in the box.

I kind of agree with you. I say Ronnie Brown should start (and it looks like he's going to start this week vs. the pats!) and get 60-70% of the carries. I also would like to see them move Ronnie Brown some more... Maybe put as a slot receiver while Ricky is in the backfield.

The only way Ricky should get more touches is if he gets hot. Then we could ride him for a series or two.

Another thing is, (something I've been saying since the off-season) Penny has to convert 3rd downs for us to be effective. We are built to be a run oriented team and alot of times, that leads us (or most running teams) into 3rd and manageable (about 1-6 yards). He has to get us over those hurdles. He doesn't have to be a superman, just manage the game. What he's good at!

If we could do those things, then we'll be good!

i agree that we cant run the ball when where down by 14. but u bet your *** we should throw ronnie the ball. ronnie has the best hands on the team and last year he proved that he was the best reciving back in the nfl, or at least up there with bush and westbrook.so if the wr arent getting open than have ronnie spin off a defender and catch a short pass.i just cant believe that we havent been throwing 2 ronnie more. and by the way where are all the ronnie bashers/RICKY HOMERS NOW. ricky is absoulty terrible and should only be put in to give ronnie a rest.and by the way ricky fumbled the ball already 3 times but i think we recoverd them all.

This goes back to the problem we HAVE ALWAYS had with Ronnie. It takes him to long to do anything and we get to far behind to stay with the run. Look at Sunday (and yes I know it was Ricky) the Run game went nowhere early and our defense couldn't of help a troop of girl scouts from scoring.

it is really pretty basic, like the poster above mentioned.

One reason no-one speaks of.. >>>>KNEE SURGERY<<<<

Now.. since I am not biased to either back... BOTH backs have been ineffective.

If anyone noticed in the second half last week it was all ronnie for the most part. He didn't light it up.

Running the ball has alot more to do than just who the back is.

I'm still convinced that Ronnie Brown has the talent to be an elite back in the NFL. I also believe that Ronnie is the type of back that does best when he gets a lot of repetition (either rushing or receiving).

That said, as Canadianfishfan points out, Ronnie is still not 100% recovered from surgery (even it looks that way on some plays) and Ricky is still a very viable option (though he had better stop fumbling).

Moreover, as many of you have pointed out, when your offensive line and wideouts are not blocking well and your defense can't prevent the opponent from scoring early, it's very hard to have an elite running game.

Regardless of who's toting the football.

You dopnt understand why ronnie isnt getting 20 touches a game?

Were playing for the future, not the present.

Ronnie is still hurt, it takes a while to recover from an injury that severe. It's best to work him in easy.

anything else i can help you with?

WOW... IF RONNIE IS STILL HURT WE SHOULDNT BE PLAYING HIM AT ALL. There is no difference physically by getting 9 more carries a game for an NFL player. These athletes are the best in the world. He can still get injured in the 11 carries he has been having per game. He has recovered fast and if he was still injured he wouldn’t play. The Dolphins coaching staff is playing him so I trust their judgment of Ronnie not being injured.

As for what I meant by Ronnie needing 20 carries to be effective. I realize that we went down early against the cards. However, Ronnie needs to get the ball not Ricky. I believe giving Ronnie that ball earlier instead of Ricky we will have a better offense and put together scoring drives. No more constantly going 3 and out.

This is alot like the VS Pass and, VS Run stats. "See? We're #1 agasint the pass! Of course, it's the 31st against the run everyone ignores, or, vicea/versa depending on flavor.
