That sure TD catch he missed in the last preseason game by the pylon is what separates him from other WRs who routinely get 1000+ yard seasons and pro bowl births.

Players like Torry Holt, Andre Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, Javon Walker, Reggie Wayne, Nate Burelson, Hines Ward, Roy Williams, Joe Horn,...etc would have caught that football.

I'm tired of the excuses with Chambers. He has to step it up and be that deep threat!! Yes that means beating double teams and making the hard catch. Its what other damn good WRs do.

you talk about ONE td drop in the PRESEASON, but what about the amazing td catches he has made the previous years in regular season ?

I have a feeling we will always be looking for that "breakout season". Soon, we will realize he was a very good WR, but never a great one.

I'm glad we signed him long term, he is a good WR...

but the something that makes him great is not quite there... I agree with you, Superself, to an extent..

I agree, he does need to take it to the next level.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I wish we HAD NOT signed him, but it amazes me how everyone calls him a top level receiver. He has never cracked a 1000 yards in 5 years. Every year, there are a rookie or 2 and some player(s)that has been around a while and busts out with a great season but chambers is consistanly under 1000. Close but no cigar. And the crap about him not having a QB does not fly cuz there are always a few recievers who have great years with no better QB than us. Hell, Boston and Booker managed great years with avg or below QBs.

Chambers can play like a top level receiver in one game and disappear the next. That is the reason he is not a top level receiver.

Chambers has actually dropped at least 2 balls per game. he wasnt to ne considered elite.. so does McMike.. well its time to make those clutch catches... even when you're going to be popped.

I agree.. in this offense.. with a rushers we have in the backfield.. its going to open up the passing game.... but damn you have to catch those balls.

If people arent going to be apologetic in the QB debate.. we must also make the other offensive players accountable for some incompletings...Especially when BOTH QBs are getting a little more time...

What? Chambers has excellent hands. It's not very often that he drops anything. His "breakout" year hasn't come mostly because he's been in a run only offense with a QB that couldn't throw a deep ball to save his life. You can't break a double team if the 30 yard pass coming at you is a Hail Mary....

These are not "elite" WRs.

These threads are funny.

Everybody on our team sucks...blah, blah, blah.

Who here said CC sucks? I, like others, merely question whether he will ever truly be great.

Question wether he will have an accurate qb hitting him in stride, then question greatness.
