With Adam Gase in place, focus turns to filling out Miami Dolphins' staff

A source told the Miami Herald Monday morning that "no decisions have been made" on who would be joining (or staying with) Gase in Miami.
That would seem to run counter to a Fox Sports report late Sunday that Darren Rizzi would be staying on as Miami's special teams coordinator. Rizzi also served as Dan Campbell's assistant head coach since Joe Philbin's termination in October.
Speaking of Campbell, the Dolphins need to decide soon on what to do with their popular interim coach. Campbell, not surprisingly, was disappointed that he didn't win the job on a permanent basis, so it is unclear if he would even want to return to Miami in a diminished role.
But the most important decision Gase will make is who will run his defense. Gase will call the Dolphins' offensive plays, he said Saturday, but he'll of course need a defensive coordinator.
Bengals defensive backs coach Vance Joseph, by all accounts, is high on his list. Joseph, 43, has never been more than a position coach, but is held in high esteem around the league.
But he might have options. Joseph could follow Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson if Jackson gets a head coaching job somewhere. The Browns and 49ers are among the teams that have interest in Jackson.
It's unclear what, if any, level of interest Gase might have in Jim Schwartz, who was Ndamukong Suh's head coach in Detroit. The buzz around football is Schwartz would likely team up with Doug Marrone should Marrone land a top job.
But if not, reuniting with Suh in South Florida could be appealing.

So much speculation going on right now. But yeah, hard not to get into right now and want to know what's going to be happening.
 
My level of comfort with, and respect for, Gase would grow immeasurably if he was willing to hire Schwartz as DC.
 
It's almost like free agenxy. We want to know who's going to join the team....then we'll get 100 threads about what a great hire we got and another 100 threads about how doomed we are.
