I could very easily seeing a guy like Vonnie Holliday get cut if a couple of them shine in camp and he has an average camp. His #'s have gone down since his rookie season and we only signed him to a very small contract. I'm sure if all factors are equal, Saban will go with youth. On the other hand, maybe only a couple of these DL pan out for us this season and Holliday remains as a cog in our DL rotation.

I believe he will be a starter. He didn't do well in Kansas City because they tried to make him a pass rusher. In Miami, he will be playing the 5 technique on the outside and the 3 technique on the inside. This fits his style better, as his primary objective will be to close down the outside run.

Here is what I think we will have for a DL depth chart:

LE - Vonnie Holliday, Matt Roth
LT - Larry Chester, Tim Bowens, Mario Monds
RT - Kevin Carter, Vonnie Holliday, Kevin Vickerson
RE - Jason Taylor, David Bowens, Van Brown (I think this guy may sneak onto the team)

Thats 11 DL's KB. Do you think we will carry 11 Linemen? Or will some of those guys (Roth D Bowens) also be counted as OLB's?

If Saban truly wants to get younger I can see Zgonina being let go and Also both of the Bowens' for cap reasons. If we have Taylor,Holliday,Carter and Roth at end then cutting D.Bowens will save almost 2 mil. in cap space. Also do we still have Flemons on the practice squad, he did not look to bad at times last year .

It is a good point.

We should expect to see some veteran defensive lineman get cut, maybe linebackers as well.

It will allow us to get younger and cheaper and perhaps free up some more money for offense

You don't think Romero will make the team? I liked what I saw last year in Monds in his limited PT. He may very well find his way on the team.

We also have to count on a couple of injuries happening in TC so some of those extra bodies may find their way on the team.

Oh I see, Holliday is listed twice. Still, wheres FUUUUGA?

In the end...I see D. Bowens getting cut...T. Bowens will probably retire...his injury is serious and I don't think we can take a risk (T. Bowens is the last player left from the Shula era...and I will miss big TimBo)...I see J. Zgonina getting cut...

I hope I'm wrong but I also don't see J. Taylor in Saban's long-term plans.

Go Fins!!!

Two things up front dolfans

Projecting the DL at this point is premature first thier is the question of health in regards to T.Bowans & Chester, as for K.Carter KB21 its my understanding that Carter was told he will be a DE in base "D" and move inside on nickle & dime defense so your projection with him as a DT is wrong.

I believe most 4-3 teams carry 8 linemen, however Roth could be considered a LB that is used as a rush specialist so his true roster spot is yet unknown as well.

you gotta remember that taylor, roth and d.bowens can all stand up at OLB.

As bad as our Run defense was last year I'll take all the DL I can get. Thats one thing I can't stand watching, our team getting run all over(I mean who lets 2 Jets RBs get 100 yds???), and I think Saban is the same way. IMO, Holliday is definitely on the team, most likely starting.

Never have enough D-linemen. Especially in a place like Miami where "HEAT" is a factor and wanting a fresh body on the field at all possible times
