We all realize that the timing of this Brandon Marshall trade is odd. And while we can speculate what it might mean in regards to the Peyton Manning sweepstakes (perhaps nothing), one thing is for sure. We do not have a true #1 WR now.

Does that mean the Dolphins will sign Reggie Wayne? Maybe.

I think a BIGGER possibility is Vincent Jackson. He's big and strong like Marshall, but younger, faster, and not quite the diva that is Marshall. Perhaps the Dolphins go that route?

Just a thought.

V Jackson would cost more than Marshall did and he has his baggage as well. Probably going to Tampa anyway

Vincent Jackson is even more inconsistent than Marshall. He'll give you a monster game then disappear for 3 weeks. Say what you want about Brandon Marshall but he would never disappear for games at a time.

This is the most depressing way to start the offseason. Almost feels like a bad dream or an April fools joke that you're waiting for the punchline to follow.

How about Mike Wallace then? He's not the big, physical receiver we had in Marshall, but he's definitely a big play threat. Unless they truly believe Gates can develop into the same player, it makes some sense.

Jackson is every bit the Diva and he's had even more off field issues with DUIs and the like than Marshall has.

It depends on what Miami does with the money saved and the third round picks. And for the people who ask about third round picks, remember Marshall was a 4th or 5th round pick and Wallace was a third round pick I believe. If used wisely two third round picks will make most teams and start.

I'm gonna have some faith in Philibin, since I'm sure it was his idea to do the trade. Ireland was part of the group that brought Marshall in.

This is the Dolphins we're talking about here...
