Clyde gates is going to have show up as a receiver this year. I hope philbin and Sherman find a way to make him effective in the passing game. Glad we finally have a return man since ginn left. Miller has potential to be electric.

Maybe they'll actually throw to him this season.

I want to say I remember a couple of times he was open deep but they missed the throw, so hopefully he becomes a big play guy.

He made a couple big catches in preseason then dissappeared as a reoiever. As Nubs said I believe Philbin has other plans.
Guys like Bess and Hartline should be great in this offence also. I think we'll have many guys with 500 yard seasons but no alpha 1,200 yard dude. I'm ok with that.

He will stretch the field for us. Don't know how crisp his routes are though.

I just want him to get a real chance......if he can get going he could be special.

Ozzy rules!!

I agree, I saw a few of those. We have to be able to get the ball to him.

They're going to have to throw to him. What's the worst that could happen? Not like any other WR is worth a damn with potential to make big plays. Nothing to lose.

One of the many problems you have when you are the worse team in the NFL in pass protection is throwing long. C Gates had something like 12-14 passes thrown to him but all but two were considered uncatchable. Given the extra 3/10ths of a second to pass the ball could work big in Gates's favor.

So will no longer having a ball hog like B Marshall.

After C Gates hits up a couple of long TD bombs, he will be drawing a deep safety on him in ways that Marshall did not. Marshall was never a threat to beat anyone deep.

This is actually good news for Gates as a WR. I remember when he was running kickoffs how exciting it was knowing that given a good block or two he'd be off to the races. But if you're taking time in practice running back kicks, you have less time to practice at WR. Most kickoff return men's production diminish if given a role as an offensive or defensive player (Deon Sanders not included). And vice versa. I think this coaching staff will use Gates wisely.
