Delmas In Demand
Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2009, 10:11 p.m.

The guy who might be the first safety drafted next month will be making plenty of trips between now and then. Per a league source, Louis Delmas of Western Michigan has visits scheduled with the Ravens, Falcons, Jets, Saints, Broncos, Dolphins, Browns, Patriots, and Cowboys.

Delmas also will conduct private workouts for the Browns, Eagles, and Dolphins.

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds at the Combine. At his March 11 Pro Day workout, Delmas focused on position drills, resting on his Combine numbers.

A total of 21 teams attended the Western Michigan session, with Delmas being the main attraction.

Miami needs a Safety as an insurance policy and for depth while Delmas we be taken a little higher I think Miami could draft or sign and UDFA to compete with Culver and Bryan. If they draft one expect it in the 7th I dont see Mimai taking a safety until they address their need which are CB,OLB,DT and WR.

I personally think Culver is a great Depth guy and could come in and start if need be.

However this just caught me way off guard:

1 - We have a butt load of dough wrapped up into our Combo of Bell and Wilson.

2 - To get Delmas we would prob have to take him at 44. That seems a little high for a backup / insurance policy to me.

I know that I am being negative but crowning our two safetys before even doing anything on the field is asking too much already.

Um? are they both Rookies or something? I'm pretty sure they are both veterans of the NFL and based upon their career statistics im almost positive we have the best tackling and one of the most physical Safety Combo's in the NFL.

Bell has an injury history and his contract might be structured such that after 2 years we can cut him without much of a cap hit. Im all for Delmas, even though there are other positions with greater needs than safety. We need to take BPA, not reach for guys bc we need to fill a position. Were not going to fix all of our holes in one draft.

I think they can get Moore later. They definitely need insurance for Bell with his injury history and he's not exactly on the right side of 30.
