I don’t think that the Dolphins could find a starting caliber safety until the 26th or 31st when the fat is trimmed from other rosters around the league and by that time the players potential impact would certainly be reduced as they would be unfamiliar with Coyle’s scheme. Without being able to replace the talent lost, I think that the Dolphins should aim to bring in a player/coach to provide a 5 hour accelerated mentor course to at least mitigate the loss in experience at the Defenses backend.
And while I would normally not advocate for signing a player in what is certainly the last leg of his professional career over trying to develop the next young piece I am going to do it now, as I think now is the time for Ed Reed to return to South Florida and put on the aqua and orange.

You know better than to suggest such blasphemy.

Go with Wilson and take a look at Walt Aikens with the 2's.

Give Jimmy Wilson a go. He knows the Defense and Kevin Coyle has total confidence in him as a leader. Coyle didn't pause for a second to consider other options. It's Jimmy's first game as a starter and he's grabbing the opportunity with both hands.
Ed Reed has been a terrific player but his best is well behind him.

I'd love to have Ed Reed out there, but the guy who was playing football last year is not Ed Reed.

If it's Ed Reed of 7-8 years ago, sure. But since it's not.... carry on. He's just not an option anymore. Too old and always hurt.

Please no more bringing in old washed out vets to try and fix a problem. We saw what happened when we tried that last year. When we brought in Bryant McKinnie to fix the tackle position.

I think some of you may be surprised that you won't see much of a talent difference between Jones and Wilson.

Bad example as McKinnie did improve the line even if it was still bad and sometimes horrible after he got here. It could have and would have been even worse.

Agree and I will take it a step further. If Wilson plays well the 1st month of the season, then Jones is in danger of becoming a cap casualty at the end of the yr.

Washed up old Ravens are the new vogue thing I see. Learn nothing from recent history have we.

Last two games he and Clabo were exposed. So no, its a good example.
