How much faith do you really have in them landing Manning.I for one have seen this regime swing and miss many times. With the demand for Manning expected to be very high I just cant see these guys pulling in off.I heard Dungee this morning throw the 49ers into the mix. With that team so close to a Superbowl and much better talent I cant see us landing him

when did they swing and miss? harbaugh? how can you blame them for not trying? 49ers was harbaughs 1st choice, no other team could have got in between. so whas the other swing and misses?

How about Jeff Fisher. How about Ryan Clark. How all the sub par draft picks.

Jeff Fisher and ryan clark were huge swing a misses? I think you are reaching.

Last years draft was not bad.

If you don't like Ireland, that's fine...but besides the Dez question, and Harbaugh mess...he has done an ok job.

Maybe you are upset he didn't overpay for Orton?

You guys put way to bright of a spotlight on their mistakes. I don't really care much about criticizing the owner, I feel there's just not much to judge there. There was the Harbaugh situation and that's it. Chris Carter had a lot of good things to say about him when he was on Sportscenter. Ireland? He's been fine. sub-par draft picks? Who doesn't have them? He's hit on some, he's missed on some. Questionable signings? Those happen. That's the life of being a GM, not just Jeff Ireland. What separates great GMs from bad GMs are those moments you bring in players that makes filling in the rest of the roster so much easier. And it's not like our cupboard is bare. We're a contender for getting Manning because we have a solid roster and we just need a QB. Ireland put this roster together.

San fran overachieved last year imo, they are no closer to a superbowl than we are...i suspect they regress a shade this year.

Actually we will never know if we could have signed him because we had a coach in place and many people would not take a job with that in play.

Yay for the obligatory Finheaven hate-on-something thread that inevitably pops up daily. And, surprise surprise, our resident Debbie Downer couldn't help but jump into the fray...

Fisher was a strikeout that I was hoping would happen. I did not want him here. With that said, there's so much negativity here it's sick.

Fisher was more of a foul ball, not a strike out. Fisher wanted too much power and Ross didn't want to give it to him. Thats not a swing and mis
