Currently, Miami sits at around $15M in cap space for 2019 (not counting this year's carryover).

By rescinding DeVante Parker's 5th year option (9.387M) and cutting Andre Branch (7M in savings) that $15M cap number grows to $32M.

Miami currently has about $7M in cap space on the current season. With that carried over to the 2019 offseason, the Dolphins would have $39M in cap space.

It doesn't give them the luxury of going crazy, but if they want to sign several quality players, they'll have the ability to do so.

Do you have any idea how much we would save by cutting Tannehill? Not saying we should just wondering.

As tempting as it sounds, I’d rather draft a QB to sit behind tannehill. Unless we think Osweiler could be the bridge QB

Sign me up for that!

It’s a 27m cap hit with 13m in dead cap so 14m in savings. We’d have to sign (unless we draft) a QB at that rate to replace him so really no chance he’s not on the roster next year.

The other moves I love, rescind Dumbte in a heartbeat and try to rework Branch.

RT is due, don't quote me but I think this right, $26m and none of that is guaranteed. They have to renegotiate his contract. There is no way they can pay him that salary next year. Or, and I know I am going to get put in the crosshairs for saying this, we could let him walk and bring in a young QB to develop that has a better upside. Listen, RT is what he is - Game Manager. He is an adequate QB, but unless we can put exceptional talent around him we are going to be mired in mediocrity. The drafting from the last 3 GMs has been less than spectacular. Part of that has been bad luck, i.e. Dion Jordan, but mostly it has been just stupidity. Maybe Grier can change that, but we need to get the QB fixed and build around him. Easier said than done. Hopefully we stop looking at what they think a player can become and see what a player he actually is.

One guy that I thought was an option for us to move on from was Amendola with $6m cap season savings and no dead money. The way he has played this year so far, that doesn’t seem like a move we should make. He has been consistent, filled in admirably in Landry’s role and has established himself as a good leader on this team.

I’ll be interested to see what Gore is planning for his future. Without a doubt the coaching staff and fans would like to have him back. Same with Cam Wake, the defensive front seven has sorely missed him the last two weeks. Woodard had played well in limited action, but I see him more as a replacement for Branch going forward. Hopefully Harris develops a lot as the season goes on...right now he looks like nothing but a fourth or fifth option though.

we need room for Tunsil and Howard

Definitely, Ross and Tannenbaum need to drive a dump truck of cash to Howard’s house when the start negotiations this offseason. Letting him sniff free agency would be a huge mistake.

Both the Bengals and Bears didn’t even attempt to throw in his direction. Granted having bums playing the CB2 spot has played a part but his 7 INTs the last 10 games is definitely the biggest factor

That's with only about 34 players on the roster. We have a ton of guys we need to re-sign or replace. The aforementioned Branch, Wake, Hayes, James, Gore, Swanson, Jesse Davis and a ton of backups. Plus, we really should extend Tunsil and Howard in the off-season. That will eat a good portion of that cap space, and they will want to go into the 2019 season with close to $10 mil in cap room like they always do. We are towards the bottom of the league in both cap space, and in players signed towards cap liabilities.

Miami is moving to a different set of problems - and that's good. Finally appears Miami has enough good players tough decisions will have to be made on who to keep, how much they're worth, and who to let go . . . even if their play is solid. Can they be traded? Will they be released? This is a zone Miami hasn't been in for years, but top teams have to do every year.

Actually we have 24.4mill on cap space for next year. By cutting Parker and Branch we'd get another 16mill which put us at 40mill. If we cut Sitton we'd save another 5mill with 2mill on dead money so that's 45mill. Nobody else makes sense cutting. Quinn would save us another 12mill plus but we need him as right now he's the only pass rusher we have.
But as some people have said, we have Howard and Tunsil to worry about too. The FO has to be smart with the money. I'd love to get one or 2 O-line guys but they have to in their 20's. Just about had it with all the older guys that have been hurt before.

BTW, Wake and Hayes are not under contract for 2019 and I'd let them both go as you can't keep counting on older guys with injuries.
