Wll Rickys return be reinforcement or the cavalry?

Frerotte MUST give the impression that we have some kind of a passing game. If not, it'll be a repeat of last year and defenses will put 8 guys in the box...stuff the run and suffocate our runners...

I don't know... with as many weapons as we have on offense, and the way they seemed to be getting open over the top, even if we are having difficulty executing it, offenses will still have to respect the deep threat. I think the MOST important key to keeping defenses honest is NOT the deep ball, but frerotte able to hit the mid-range passes over the middle (15-25 yards downfield.) Whether it's to McMichael/Brown running down the middle or one of the receivers on a slant, if he can hit those, defenses will need to keep their safeties back to help out.

I think Linehan is the biggest pickup by far. Even though it SEEMED like defenses always had 8 in the box on us last year... they DIDN'T. We were just so damn predictable that then knew when we were running and when we were passing and called the right defenses to defend it nearly every time. We've had that problem for a few years, and I think with the new coaches, we won't have that problem.
 
Ricky will appear to be more like the calvary than reinforcement. The team needs time to come together and learn the new offensive and defensive schemes from the new coaching staff. Once Ricky returns, he will bring new life to the running game. Also, the team will have more time to work together and actually improve. This is why I am expecting a better 2nd half than 1st half of the season, barring any major injuries.
