He may not end up being very good like Lang last year but from what I recall there were many teams interested in him. He got a 2 year $1.2M deal with $200k guaranteed which is a decent amount for a reserved futures contract. Seems pretty athletic at 6'2" 230 & he is only 26. Who knows, I had forgotten about him being added so maybe he will work out for us.

Hopefully he is our next Wake in that he is a gem from the CFL

Lacey is the big question. Reports say the FO love him. So do they have a vision for him to be a starter? Do they have a vision for him to start in 2 years and therefore are looking for a stopgap LB this season (Misi) to develop him? Certainly Lacey is a part of the FO's LB plan we just don't know what part yet.

As of right now I imagine they see him as a ST player who they're hoping will develop into a good starter? For every Wake you'll get a bunch of guys that will never have an impact. Time will tell

Ozzy rules!!

If he can replace Paysinger with a tad better play on D, signing him was a win.

What linebacker role did he play in Canada? Does our resident Canadian,(FeartheBeard) rate him?

Just looked at a highlight video. Apparently he was a top special teamer. He had a pretty bad pro day. Good straight line speed, but his 3 cone WOOF. Lacks explosion looking at his broad and vert numbers, and he's light in the pants. He tackles high. He's gonna get run over by someone in preseason and we're gonna laugh. That's my prediction for how his career turns out for us.

He is definitely small.

To me, he looks like competition for Neville Hewitt to backup the WLB behind Kiko.

Seems like he could be exciting on special teams

I think Lacey will fight for a back of the depth chart lb/special teams role... As a role playing linebacker there will be better options with the three 5th round picks.

I said this when we first signed him - he's special teamer, and he may find his way on to the field in certain sub packages. In the CFL, his first two years he was not a starter, and made his mark as a special teamer, so that's something he's good at. He's a good open field tackler, and he's good in coverage too, and he can run. To be honest, he's probably a better safety than he is a LB in the NFL. Because one thing he never had to do in the CFL was jam a 330 pound guard at the POA, or shoot the B gap and stuff a 250 pound RB.

To be honest, he's a very good athlete and his football IQ is good too, but he wasn't even the best LB on the Eskimos - JC Sherritt was. He'll have a big adjustment if he wants to play LB with us.

Doesn't cost you a 1st to try to find Wake though

Odds are not with it esp in canada. The majority of canadian players couldnt make an NFl roster and thats why they are in canada.
Your odds are less than finding a pro bowl player from UCF

He is probably better than Dion Jordan though

We won the lottery with Wake and I highly doubt we'll win it ever again. Lacey AT BEST is depth. Expecting much more is a pipe dream
