Or would you just write it off as a fluke and demand his head on a silver platter at the end of the year?

I want a playoff birth for me to keep a little faith in Philbin for at least the next year. But, beating Denver would be quite the feat. Your thoughts?

I don't know, I could see it as a thing the dolphins do and win games you don't expect. But then later in the season miami loses to a team you expect fins to beat. Fins have beaten supposedly superior teams before only to get beat by a weaker team. I would feel pretty good, but be hesitant before I crown miami considering miami's past.

Winning at Denver would shock me but the things I don't like about Philbin is more about leadership than getting one win.

If we go 8-8 or 9-7, I would still support Philbin - continuity would be good because we finally have a GM that is arming Philbin's roster with quality depth; and also 1st year with Lazor's system. Tannehill and the offense is progressing with it, and Coyle is doing a superb job with the defense.

I still think Philbin can be clueless and doesn't know how to properly use timeouts at the end of the game. But if we beat Denver I won't change my opinion on Philbin but will be impressed with our players. That would also help us compete for 1st in the AFC East which would be awesome.

Depends what happens in the game...the game itself can be attributed to different factors. You can win inspite of someone and you can lose even with someone. It would really change my view of the team as a whole.

NO, I do not think Philbin is a good coach. I think Miami's roster is LOADED with talent. Hickey and yes Ireland brought a lot of talent to this team. I think Coyle has finally gotten the players that fit his system. Lazor is putting the offense in a position with creative plays and Tannehill getting more comfortable. I also think Benton has been HUGE. Phibin is a CEO type of coach, but he still makes game management decsions and I don't feel he does it well for the most part.

That being said, great win last night. Miami dominated a team with lessor talent like they should. Good job guys now let's get ready to go joing the mile high club...

Philbin will be the best coach we've had since Shula. Winning in the playoffs will validate that.

This. Totally this. Thanks Orlando.

I hate that people change their mind game by game (and in this forums case play by play) one game shouldn't make any significant difference. judge it by seasons

I think everything depends on making the playoffs, if you beat Den and fizzle like after you beat NE last year that win becomes meaningless. it's all about the playoffs for this franchise and Philbin. There's no reason they shouldn't make it.

This whole firing/keeping Philbin thing is really a complicated question. I think we all understand Philbin's shortcomings. But there are other things to consider - like if you fire him, who do you replace him with? Name one available proven entity that you'd salivate over.(that is itching to coach again) Do we want to can Philbin and replace him with someone unproven who may run completely different systems, start over, purge the roster, go through 5-11 seasons for two years until we finally get re-built to where we are now, and we've wasted two years of our good players' primes? Going into this season, I thought we were still one offseason away from really being true playoff contenders and noise makers. Last off-season, too much energy, money and time had to be dedicated to fixing that d**n o-line, that we couldn't focus on making upgrades elsewhere. This year, I think our weaknesses really stand out, which allows them to be quickly addressed We need to shore up the middle of the o-line(Still...but at least we're not trying to find five new starters-maybe just one if we're counting on Billy Turner) get a stud, big running back to match with Miller, and find a seam TE. We could use some upgrades maybe/depth at LB. Re-sign Pouncey, Clay and Odrick, and I think this off-season can really set us up to be a big time contender next year. I have faith in Hickey's drafting,(I hope he doesn't get too cute and overdraft too many small school guys- that's my only concern) and I think that without so much pressure to fill so many o-line positions it will make the free agency period easier for him. Barring a total flop in the last 6 games, I think Philbin and Hickey should get one more shot. I know this opinion has been stated before by many, but I just felt like with the small re-build necessary this past off-season, it really set us back. I'm pleasantly surprised and thrilled to be where we are right now, and it feels really good at this point in the season to know we' re close, watch other teams and root for those in our way to lose, rather than to be seeing how many teams draft in front of us.

Last year...8-6 with a win to make the playoffs and Philbin chokes with 7 points in 2 games.

He is holding us back.
