I would love to see Sam Madison or Patrick Surtain helping coach our secondary and Zach Thomas with the linebackers. I know Zach said he wouldn't be interested in coaching now because of having young children but damn it would be nice to see. I actually think Jason Taylor would make a good coach.

You are right on Zach he said he is going to raise his kids for now. Jason I am not sure if he would want to put the long hours in right now. You can hear him on channel 88 on Sirius radio on Wednesday mornings with Bob Papa. I really enjoy his insight and calling as he sees it.

Not all the great players make decent coaches. Having the talent, speed and instincts to play at a high level doesn't necessarily translate well to teaching others with perhaps lesser talent, speed and instincts.
I would also like to see one of the old Dolphin greats emerge as a coach, but they have to show an inclination that they really want to do it, put their hand up and want to get involved. Jason Taylor could be good, because he is smart as hell. Zach Thomas is a bona fide legend (he got the biggest ovation at the 50th anniversary celebration on the field, yes bigger than Marino), but to date he hasn't shown any desire to get involved in the coaching. Sam is involved with the team through the Finsiders, but he comes across as more of a comedian than a prospective coach. We simply need the best coaches for the future.

Was hoping Terrell Buckley would've gotten a look as DB coach

Chad Pennington. He was good and i think could teach a thing or 2.

Can they coach? Nothing else matters

Former star players generally make ****ty coaches.

They tended to rely upon outstanding athleticism and instincts ... 2 things that you can't teach.

Great players tend to be very poor coaches. Some of it is due to their superior talent and harder work ethic
When they coach they attempt to coach every player and demand too much of players. Essentially Jordan with the wizards is a prime example.

Jordan was the owner/ president, never coached the team but did make some terrible moves
