I was just curious "if" we end up picking first again in next years draft how it will affect our salary cap and financial status of this team? I know drafting a bust at #1 is "crippling" to an organization for monetary reasons, so I would have to assume we would be in a tough spot forking over #1 money 2 seasons in a row.

Anyone have any insight or opinions on how this would affect us? Hopefully we will win a few games this yr and not be in that spot, but regardless we will be picking pretty high.

I dont even want to think if that would happen to us if that happened but right now it looks like we'll get top 10 unless something changes and we start running the ball like we should.

Please don't bring this up until at least Week 8...just depressing...

That's why we should try to trade our first overall to Arizona for Anquan Boldin and the Card's 2nd rounder. I would do it right now without hesitating.

that is y i want between 4 and 8 so we do not have to come out that much money, or even trade the pick for an established 5 or 6 year guy so then we could sign another decent free agent. it is proven that bp and co. could find studs in the draft we do not have to pay them that much money. so even if we could trade down and pick up extra picks in the process we will do good next year. i am a die hard dolfan but i want the to finish at least 5-10 or 6-11 so we could be in the top 7 or 8

I haven't paid much attention to this years draft, hopefully it is strong and we can trade out of a high pic spot and get more players.

No as long as the FO doesn't offer any outrageous bonus/incentives. We're fine. Rookie contracts are cap friendly.

Outside the top 10 they are.....Jake Long's contract is far from being cap friendly. Thirty mil in guarantees for a guy who never played professional football..... If he turns into the next Mandarich the Phins will be left paying almost 10% of their team's salary to a guy they can't even cut because of the cap implications.
