Would Ricky come back to play clean, showing his commitment to play and then fail a league drug test...thus oweing the dolphins nothing of the $8 million he owes them? :rofl3:

Would he do that? I believe so. Would the Dolphins be dumb enough not to give themselves an out for that in the contract? I hope not.

It is not a contract thing, I believe it is a league thing...if he shows up and tries to play honestly...and fails the test....the league kicks him out making the contract void..as far as i know!

Nope. The contract can list reasons why he would still have to return the money. Whether it's an injury from a non-sanctioned, non-football injury or for an arrest or for a violation of the league drug policy.

We don't know that for sure, but lets hope that he meant what he said.

I also heard he loves football and isn't just returning b/c he owes money.
Just for the record....
How many guys can you name in the NFL who would play for free? Just for pure love of the game? You could make an argument for Brett Favre but even then it's a stretch because he plays the highest-paid position.

Maybe not for free, but even for just the minimum I bet you could field a whole league. Not all the stars, b/c frankly they have enough money and in many cases they are older. But I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding 1700 or so players from the graduating college ranks every year that would be willing to play for the league min.
