Would the FO have the balls to do this and draft a QB

And never got back.

BTW, they were the 7th ranked defense in the category that counts. That defense still had the Arnsparger influence. It is no accident that the defense dropped off dramatically after that.

We went to the SB with David Woodley. Let that sink in.

That was not a good defense anymore...we saw that in the Superbowl.

We got to the Superbowl with Woodley mainly due to a strike shortened messed up season....and Shula managing Woodstrock well...and a solid running game....and of course Arnspargers Killer Bees.

Two years later that defense wasn't the same.

Despite a pathetic Superbowl performance by Woodley...the Killer Bees still had us leading starting the 4th quarter.

That 84' defense gave up 28 points in the AFC championship game to an average 9-7 Steeler team with crappy quarterbacking.

The 84' defense was way below average in yards allowed as was our running game in yards gained.

A great quarterback got us to the big game.

Marino was on fumes late in his career and he didn't work well w/ JJ. w/ less talent in 2000 than 1999 Miami won the division. Jay was very underrated.

he was not a pretty QB but he made plays and got the job done.

Sorry Junc....Fiedler sucked...the bigger the game the more he sucked.

Go back and look at his playoff numbers.

you were not winning a SB with him but you weren't winning one w/ marino late in his career or those overrated Ds but he did help you get to the playoffs and win a division title.

don't confuse what I am saying, I am not saying you build around a Fiedler or that you are winning it all w/ him but he gets way too much crap for what he actually did for you guys. he's a good short term QB to have sort of like us w/ Fitz. not building around him, not going to win w/ him but hopefully we can find a young QB to develop and compete while trying to do that.

In the 1982 AFC Championship game Woodley threw 3 INts only to be outdone by Richard Todd who threw 4 INts including one for a TD in a 1 score game.

That average Steelers team finished 8th in the league in scoring. Malone and Woodley (ironically) combined for 25 TDs (which for the era was quite respectable). They also combined for 25 INTs. True to form, Malone had 3 TDs and 3 INTs in the AFC championship game.

They were 7th in the league in points allowed. Games are decided by point differential and the Dolphins defense was still good in that department.

What are we arguing about? There are only two facts that Dolphins fans need to reference to KILL any discussion of #QBwinz:

1. Fiedler and Marino have nearly identical career winning percentages

2. Woodley and Marino went to the same number of Superbowls

Fiedler was a starter for a few years, marino a starter for 15+
