Just Curious what most posters here think. Last year I was advocating bringing in Coughlin as HC with Campbell as assistant HC. The thought being, Coughlin has the drive and experience to mold this team, and Campbell could get the much needed experience, learning at the foot of a Hall of Fame coach who would immediatley have the respect of the locker room. After Tom retired in 3 years, Campbell would then be ready to assume HC responsibilities. So my question is, would they currently have more wins than Gase, and would you prefer this scenerio as opposed to the Gase/Vance Joseph regime we currently have?:ponder:

Campball was a band aid. Nothing more nothing less.

I would prefer just about anything to the mess we have in the current coaching staff. But we're fooling ourselves if anyone thinks the mess at the top doesn't stink just as bad if not worse.

That said, there's no way Coughlin would have stepped foot into this meadow muffin of an organization.

Nobody good and established is coming on to a team run by Tbum. But yes it would have been in our best interest to keep Campbell. He was the real deal. Equip him with top notch coordinators like Dallas did with Garrett. Give him an offseason to prepare and build the roster. That could have been something. But we'll never know now.

I really liked Dan Campbell but it wasn't his time and I don't know if he'd ever develop into a Bill Cowher type coach but that would've been the hope.

Would've really liked Coughlin, but he wouldn't be able to do much with team either. You need to fix the front office then the roster.

Speaking of potential Head Coaches, the best long term project would be Peyton Manning. Absolute student of the game and has a football photographic memory. Used to leading on the field, very likely can lead from the sidelines also. Would have instant respect of any and all players.

I can see Manning being a great coach , but will take years. Gase was a bad choice. I rather have a Player then a offense coordinator

Old school Coughlin with this bunch of babies. Hahahahaha!

Coughlin or Shanahan would probably be getting better immediate results and would be turning this thing around faster. They've done it before. We do need a take charge kind of coach.

Yes, I still think we should have hired an experienced coach.

Or we should have just hired Mike Zimmer when we had that chance. Boy did we botch that one.

I wasn't in favor of the Gase hiring.....I thought we needed more experience on this team in the coaching ranks.....but it is way too early to deeming him a failure. With any new coach, it takes time to turn things around.

I am a bit alarmed at some of the play calling, and I'm certainly not happy with our rookie DC so far....but these guys should show steady improvement as the season moves on....if they don't, then perhaps second guessing the choices is appropriate.

The time to evaluate this is at the end of the season.

We will be fine with Gase. Let him try to build this team.

A lot more problems on this 52 than just Tannehill, so if we take a QB in round 1 (which im not totally opposed to anymore) be ready for more sucking next year.

We really need Ryan to take that next step next year so we coulda went defense heavy next draft and FA... oh well.

at this rate we'll be drafting more Lineman..

Why do people say "it wasn't Campbell's time"? But it was Gase's? I don't get it. Campbell actually had 12 games of HC experience to Gase 0. I would have liked a vet coach w Campbell retained and groomed. I think Dan has that intangible special quality of leadership that the last few coaches we've hired lack.

Coughlin/Campbell, with the idea of Campbell taking the reigns a few years down the road, would have been ideal providing they both would have easily agreed to those terms.

But alas.....

We have all seen this roster....unless we hired Gandalf, I doubt anyone could get positive results from this over sized practice squad.

I wanted that too. Wasn't sure about Gase. Then I learned to like him, then I really liked him, now Im not liking him. He is forcing a system on these players and not playing to their strengths (like he said he wouldn't do), no scheming other teams, no exploiting weaknesses, no adjustments. Its so bad to watch. I am officially over with the up and coming coaches. I want an experienced coach at the helms of this team. Actually, I want an experienced FO and GM to pick their guys and have everyone in Synch as opposed to what this dumpster fire has been. Is that too much to ask?

I agree.
