Would Willis and Pitts move the needle on offense?

In that case, it seems Philbin wasn't especially high on Flynn and so Flynn signed with Seattle. We'll see how high Sullivan and Hafley are on Willis. Or if they're not.

In the GM interviews, you have to assume that with QB being the clear most important position and Marino and Aikman in the room, Sullivan was asked about QB. And I've be very surprised if nobody in the room asked him specifically about Willis. We don't know what Sullivan said about him, or QB in general, but whatever it was it presumably excited of pleased the guys in the room. I guess it's possible that he said he wouldn't be interested in Willis and that his plan for QB was to field a bad team for as many years as necessary to be in position to pick an as-yet-unknown QB that he might think is, or could be elite. But that certainly would be an unappealing answer to me. But I guess others here seem to think it sounds great.

Hafley says they have a plan for QB but he can't/won't say what it is. If the plan is to try to sign Willis there'd be good reason to not say that, as Willis is technically still under contract and teams can't yet comment on prospective FAs. If the plan is to take high in the 2026 draft, he could have said that but also would have had reason not to tip the team's hand on that. If the plan is to suck in 2026 and try to draft one high in 2027, he probably wouldn't want to say the "suck" part out loud and presumably wouldn't.
My thoughts exactly. There isn't a clear franchise qb for us to go out and get. Its not Willis, and there's no one in the draft worth anything but mendoza and we ain't getting him. Truth is we arent ready, we need a year to build the line. I hate the idea of spending on mediocre guys so we can win a few pointless games.

Philbin wasn’t high on anyone Guy was clueless

I wasn't a fan either, but like most of the Dolphins HCs of the last 25 years, when I look back at what they had at QB and the overall talent level on the team I'm pretty hard-pressed to say they underachieved by much. All were in the neighborhood of .500 which isn't so bad considering the QB play they got. Philbin had young Tannehill and Tannehill had some talent, but he was also pretty raw raw coming out of college with limited starting QB experience. The Pats were generally dominant and 2 nearly guaranteed losses a year, although the Bills and Jets weren't very good then.

I think you have to grab your QB when you can. You can't wait until all other conditions are right or perfect. They generally aren't if you are picking in the top 5, which is why you are picking in the top 5. I like Willis and would love to see Sullivan/Hafley have such conviction in him that they want him. I don't think he's a mediocre guy at all. He certainly hasn't played like one in GB. He's played at an elite level. And he has elite physical and athletic tools. I don't expect there to be anyone in the next few drafts to have clearly better tools and the guys who might seem liek they will be as raw as Willis was coming out. Willis has gotten good coaching and is no longer raw.

I feel like this year is just about cleaning up the books, trying to find culture guys, and the draft. We are going to take short term pain, for long term gain. Not trying to tank, but letting it happen organically so that we can get our QB next year.

There is a ton of speculation out there. Some of it includes Kyle Pitts to the Dolphins.

When you consider that move and add the notion of Malik Willis joining the team, do you think it would be a good "marriage"?

I'm not a guru on Xs and Os, so I'm curious if anyone out there thinks this would be a good move for Miami.

I know, there's plenty of time before FA, and the Dolphins aren't in a great financial position.
But that's why we have cap specialists.

We are not getting Willis unless he's willing to the a huge discount. Other teams will pay more for his services for sure.

Listening at Sully's press conference. I don't think he's going to take shortcuts, he will draft a rookie QB in 2027 and that will be our franchise QB on a rookie contract, which is a must to build a SB winning team.

Can't win with expensive FA QB's

no.. it doesnt change ****..

and people need to stop with this mindset.. if we get this qb, or this wr it makes us allot better.. no no it doesnt.

no other moves matter at all right now til the trenches are fixed, cause the oline is god awful and has always been the issue with this team, so when thats done.. then you are in a position where a qb upgrade and skilll position upgrades will present a noted difference on the field, but as it stands all the skill positions and qbs we could get wont have the chance to do ****.. cause the oline is bad, and they dont get the time to play the game..

so anything outside of oline and fixing the defense is second fiddle.. unlesss a top prospect qb lands in our lap in the draft.. but trading for a qb or any other position unless its trenches.. don't change ****

I think their plan is to draft a QB.

this is exactly how i see it. its only logical plan

run with ewers, sign only players they see being part of the long term plan, trade any with value who are not, and then start building the team they want with this draft. next year is a good qb class or looking to be, so grab one then if you can.. by year 3, you got 2 drafts under your belt caps cleaned up, so it should start to show signs of life.. by year 3 with 3 drafts done. if there good at what they do and the plns good, you should see it shine through then. but unless we get really luck with draft hits.. i dont see us being a decent team for a few years after that... but with luck if there plan works out.. once its set up, your good and its just replace as and when you need to with draft

I want to see more of Ewers and also get a look at Cam Miller. He was a Div 2 award winner.
I think we roll with these 2 and possibly draft another project QB. Developing the roster over wins.
Shula always had the next QB waiting in the wings. We should follow his wisdom.

I would not support either signing. The last thing this team needs to do is be tied to Malik Willis. He's just a backup. Pitts finally had a good year in terms of receptions, but his yard per catch were way down. No thanks. Hard pass.

How much have you seen of Sadiq? He's a freaking animal. Very much able to physically dominate.
Yeah. I read one small blurb that said he struggles with blocking, but I haven't seen that. The dude looks like He-Man and plays really fast.

Just wish he wouldn't play in shorts lol

In the short term, bringing them in would probably help the team a little bit, but long term it would just be setting us back.

Pitts had statistically the second best season of a tight end this year and a significant portion of that production came in one game
I'd be wary of giving big money to a "contract year" type of producer
