I don't remember a year where predicting our 1st round pick was this hard. In a way that's a good thing. It tells me we're not so horrible at any position (well, maybe at one guard we are) that would make us have to reach for a position so bad.

So far WR has been the most popular position at 14 but now that we got Jennings many posters here feel we won't reach for a WR at 14. The other popular choices have been corner, RB, MLB and guard/tackle. But there's seems to be an argument to be made for and agaisnt any of those positions.

I look at it this way. What are the last positions the FO would target at 14? I don't believe we'd draft a QB, center or RT at 14. A LT is possible when you consider our LT is getting older and can't stay healthy. A guard should not be the pick imo but guard might be our biggest weakness. A WR makes sense but the top 3 might be gone. A RB like Gurley or Gordon is tempting but Gurley should be gone. Gordon reminds some people of J. Charles. Very tempting indeed but many people feel we can get a RB later. TE? The kid from Minny should be there but at 14 seems too high.

On defense we could use a corner and a MLB. The top 3 MLBs are not worth the 14 puck many will argue. Waynes and Peters are the top 2. Peters should be there but might be too much for Philbin to handle. Waynes could and should be gone. So then who? Shelton if he falls? What a combo that'd be with Suh. On top of it we've had visits with about 40 players so far. Really there's no way of knowing what they're thinking at this point and those who will say we're moving down(which I'd be happy to do btw)that'd make it even harder to predict who we'd take. Funny though once we draft our first player it might be easier to predict what position We'll go after in round 2.

Ozzy rules!!

It's not such a good thing, the reason it's so hard is that the top tier of players will be gone at our positions of need (CB, LB, OL)

I think there's still a possibly waynes falls to us at 14. But we are drafting for BPA not need. Which is hard to figure out who will be the BPA at 14.

its definitely up there.

14 really is a tough spot this year, especially with the players that prob will be gone then. not as many Definite starters, question mark players but with ability and talent you can develop. plus we also have so many holes to fill as well on our own team.

throw in the fact we dont have a 3rd rounder with all those needs too

it is hard to predict.

I think this is a great situation. We want to be unpredictable. There are GMs's that have their minds made up to make trades for certain players. If we play our cards carefully, we could end up with a great talent or trade down and get more day 2-3 picks. We just have to show interest in all directions to keep the other teams guessing. I see this as not being so desperate.

what I dislike is that there are no cornerbacks I'm in love with (although I'm a big jamar taylor fan) when we arguably need a cornerback.

that there is no stud free safety that I'm in love with (to groom behind delmas to pair with jones in the future).

that there is no stud middle linebacker that I'm in love with. where is a cj mosley this year, when arguably MLB is our biggest need?

that is what I dislike about this draft.

I dislike that it is still a week away

I was just having this convo with some buddies. Oline would be a reach at 14 outside of Scherff, which IMO would cause the fans to burn down Davie lol. If players like Shelton, Waynes, Peters, Gordon, Kendricks and maybe one of the top DEs like Beasley are still on the board at 14, what do you do. BPA would be Beasley or Scherff and Shelton right behind them. Our biggest need would be CB but can you justify taking Waynes over the aforementioned? It is a hard position considreing it is becoming more and more likely that no top 3 WRs will be there. I see Minny or Cleveland snatching him up, BARRING any trades.

I also dislike that one of our top needs is guard, and number 14 is generally too high to draft a guard. and by #47 all the "elite" guards will likely be gone.

we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

just pick the clear cut BPA on our board.

No what? Is not hard to predict? If it isn't then what do you think we're doing?

no as in i dont think it's that hard...depends on the range they pick in though...if they trade out i have some general ideas but it also again depends on where they trade out to as in 20 or 25 etc...if they stay put i think i have a general idea what they are gonna be looking at being there...and i think when they do see what's there they are gonna do what they can to in fact trade out

yeah after like the top 10 possible picks, many of the picks following are guys with talent and ability but all have their own flaws or question marks on them. its a tougher draft all in all... many are also very athletic but raw... works in progress.

OG wise is a big need, but sadly most of the best OL are actually OT being converted to OG, and the definite starting talent really drops off after the first round (into mid second round maybe). so we can def miss out on something there too.

MLB obviously there too... not many guys to like at all. slim pickings!!!

Slim pickings indeed for positions we need help at like corner, mlb and guard. If we do the right thing We'll go BPA instead of reaching for one of those 3 positions. I like Waynes though. I know some people think he's overrated but I think he's a good player. One thing's for sure. If we go oline in round 1 it has to be OT amd not guard.

I have a question for you. Other than taking a QB, center or RT at 14 if we stay there, what position would totally shock you if we drafted that position?
