So, looking at the upcoming draft, and trying to find partners for our number 16 pick, it dawne don me that the Jets might match up perfectly. If we traded our 16 overall for their 29th and 35th overall?

It would allow New York to either have two picks in the top 16, or become viable trade partners with New Orleans to trade their 4th overall as well as the 16th to move up into the second position overall.

For Miami, we trade down, gain a little bit more value for our pick than it is worth according to http://ourlads.com/NFLDraftValueChart.html . We would still have a first rounder to spend on the secondary/LB/OL and a breif turnaround on another pick early in the second round. What do you guys think? I know we really don't want to help out the Jets in getting Leinart, but I think it could help us as well due to getting two picks in the top 35.

Would you guys do it?

i will do it

but we would need a 3rd pick also

were talknig bout a 1st round pick in the middle

look wat broncos got for their 15th a 29th and 2 2nd rounders

I would, Im more worried about allowing Saban get his players, than keeping others from getting theirs.

uhh  the Broncos got the 15th.

I definitely like the idea of trading down in the first to gain a 2nd rounder given the amount of talent in this years draft, however I'd much rather trade with the Colts or Jags who could both be looking to move up to grab one of the top RB's...I want nothing to do with helping the Jets, especially when its helping them land Leinart...JMO however..

yea the falcons traded there pick to the broncos for there late 1st round and a couple more picks then the falcons traded the 29th i think to the jets

Given the market the Falcons and Broncos established, that trade with the Jets would be highway robbery. I'd take that in a second.

I think trading down is the one type of trading you have to consider doing with the enemy teams in the division. You have to consider it then simply because it is so hard to do. If you want to trade down for any type of value, you have to consider all offers.

dont worry the jets a TERRIBLE at drafting 1st round picks just look at the video in the culpepper video thread, but i wouldnt want to give them a higher pick either

that wouldn't be so bad. Only if Saban thought he could get a player that he wants at 29th or whatever it was. If there's a player that he thinks is going to step in at #16 and be a very good player for us soon then I wouldn't do it.

I would do it in a heartbeat unless someone good slipped to us. With those two picks you get the chance to draft two very good players that won't be too far off from who we would pick at 16.

I'll say this right now: if the market that Denver and Atlanta established holds, I think it's more likely that Miami will trade up. If Saban can give up this year's 4th and next year's 3rd to trade up high enough to take Huff or someone of that ilk, I think he will at least strongly consider it.

That was kind of my thought too. If the Jets are hell bent on leaping the Titans for Leinart, they would probably do this without hesitation. In fact, according to the chart, they would LOSE value to us AND the Saints. The saints could drop to four and probably still get Mario Williams or D'Brickashaw Ferguson while paying them less. Plus, they would get the 16 overall for whatever need the need to fill.

It seems to me it would be a win win for everyone...unless of course, whoever was drafted at the 16th pick turned out to be the best ever and Leinart took the Jets to five superbowls in a row...

It would depend on who is still available. I would want to wait until draft day to do a trade like that.
