Would you rather see how far we could go next year with someone like McNair who will most likely be cut (50 million roster bonus)..or start to develop and play a young qb

Even if we draft a young QB it will still take him a year or two to get use to the league and be where heis able to step in.Dan Marino was only 1 of a very few exceptions to that rule. Rookies just need to come in behind a veteren QB for a year or two, learn the system and then step up.To many times people expect a rookie QB to start right away though, and theirs just not that many "Dan Marino's" through the years that can do that.So basically, McNair or any veteren QB that has a couple good years left and would make a good QB to help groom a young guy would be great to get.Basically this is what the Packers did when they took their young QB last year in the draft. They knew Farve could teach him for the next year or so and groom him, but then Brett would be gone and retired after that and the young guy would be ready to step up.Smart plan IMO.

depends on the young qb.....i like mcnair but hes too injury prone right now ,but i think hed certainly be a better option than gus.

this is one of the things i like about the lemon trade. it is as if the fins drafted him a couple years ago. the chargers groomed him for the fins...if you choose to view it that way

it is hard to consider someone being groomed when he has zero experience. i guess most people who like P. rivers don't realize that wherever he plays next year he will be a rookie with 2 years of experience riding the bench.

I'd agree with that plan. Saban should do both. You get yourself a very good player in McNair for two years while you groom that QB. McNair's a professional that can teach a young player, even a 2nd or 3rd round QB project if Saban goes that route, how to prepare and play the game the way it should be done. I have great confidence in McNair's ability to train a new player and little confidence in Gus'.

groomed in the sense that the mental adjustments to the NFL have been made. so both lemon and rivers have been groomed.

this is as opposed to taking someone like vince young who needs a lot of work (read a couple years of not playing), the the fins have someone who already went through the process and can compete right away

whether lemon turns out to be any good is another issue, but the fins dont have to wait long to find out

draft a QB and throw him in there right away. Look at Eli Manning. He was going to do no good sitting behind Warner, they threw him in there and now look at him.

but for as many qb's that that works for... theres a david carr or a joey harrington.

Very positive spin. Great thinking man. Thats the only way to be succesful in life. And I choose to view it that way as well :D

McNair would be great. I love his competitive spirit, though he has been injured for the past couple years. I'm not sure he could last a whole season anymore, but if we had a young gun to throw in there after Steve went down, I'm good with that too.

I'm thinking he retires though, since the Dolphins need a few more pieces to make a serious playoff/Super Bowl run. Why would he want to play behind this poor OL? If we could get a LT, C and probably a G he might be interested. We need another DT and CB too.

50 million dollar roster bonus?

If we get a young QB out of the draft, then I wouldnt mind a McNair or another veteran. I just hope whichever QB we have starting in front of our young QB doesnt get hurt, thus making us push the young QB in when he isn't ready.

You could get ugly results, ala Alex Smith
