Would you sign Olivier Vernon to an extension?

He was real disappointing in that 2nd half, as was most of the defense, but he was more of the player I thought he was coming out. He has bulked up, so he is a pure DE now, and he was ok against the run but offered nothing in that pass rush department. He looked slow.

If I get the player that was around in 2013 and the first part of 2014, I definitely want him long term . . . . Wake is almost done, I know people don't want to hear that, but he's nothing against the run now and only a situational pass rush guy. OV is more rounded for sure.
 
depends...if he continues to develop and comes in at a reasonable price...yes, but if he wants "premier" DE money (or even top 10) I think it would be advisable to let him go (or at elast test the market). Some of this will depend of the development of Shelby and Fede.

I think it's worth mentioning that the second part of 2014 OV had to change how he was playing due the the run d falling apart. We saw how bad Wake was at cheating in and losing containment, and DJ was just useless against the run. I wouldn't give OV a huge extension but I'd look into it
 
The had to change how he was playing stuff i dont buy...ov disappeared after the first month of the season pretty much...a ghost...despite all one on ones

No there is no reason miami should be considering an extension this offseason...make him play out 2015 before you do anything...the only guy that got this sorry d off the field was wake toward the end of the year...either him or no one

Yes for the right price, but doesnt his contract run through at least next year? No point in talking contract extension with him this year.
 
Hes probably the most dissapponting player on the roster for 2014 considering what the expectations were and what we got...well pounceys on that list also
 
Aside from Tannehill, and maybe Pouncey, I don't extend anyone this year. Depending on how this season shakes out, we could be looking at possible complete change in FO. coaches, and schemes. I wait.

Then you lose Clay and Odrick. Which Im sure youre fine with but theres no guarantee we will find upgrades.
 
What is the deal with players on this team playing great in spurts then disappearing? is being consistent on this team too much to ask?

I mostly attribute it to coaching and motivating, although some players are just lazy and uinethical. If the player shows they can do it they should be doing it.

No, they are FAs, completely different. OV is under contract.
